Reservation lines all over town are ringing off the hook with customers snatching up seats for Denver Restaurant Week, which begins today and, as you may already know, is really two weeks long. “We did a survey of restaurants, and the vast majority favored two weeks,” says Rich Grant, communications director for Visit Denver, the organization that launched the event. “We also wanted to give consumers a little more breathing room and more chances to get in and experiment with new places.”

For those of you who are newbies, here’s a refresher course: A whopping 264 restaurants — 39 more than last year — are offering three courses (and sometimes more) at two fixed prices: $52.80 for two, or $26.40 for one, excluding tax and gratuity. Last year, more than 180,000 meals were served during Restaurant Week. “Yes, it's going to be crazy for two weeks, but in this market, the cash flow helps restaurants get through the winter,” says Grant. The most difficult decision, of course, is where to go. The Denver Restaurant Week website — www.denver.org/denverrestaurant — lists all participating restaurants, along with menus. Start dialing. Now.
