If you ask Matt Selby, executive chef of Steuben’s and Vesta Dipping Grill, why Share Our Strength’s Taste of the Nation shindig should be on every grubnik’s food calendar, here’s what he’ll tell you: “It’s hard to argue with Share Our Strength’s tag line – No Kid Hungry — and I’ve always believed that so many of our nation’s troubles could easily be solved by feeding our hungry children, letting them know that someone is thinking of them and committing to the hard work it takes to make it happen.”

Selby and chefs from thirty of Denver’s best food temples will congregate today at Mile High Station, 2027 West Lower Colfax Avenue, for the annual culinary blowout, which raises funds to support the nonprofit’s mission to end childhood hunger. The bash kicks off at 5 p.m. and includes food samplings from the participating restaurants, plus beer, wine, a cocktail competition led by Steuben’s mixologist Sean Kenyon, live music from the Informants and a silent auction trumpeting everything from restaurant gift certificates and wines to a Shaquille O'Neal jersey. Tickets to the event are $75 per person — every cent of which is donated to Share Our Strength and can be purchased at www.strength.org/denver.
