More than a hundred years after his first appearance, fans and writers are still compelled to study and perform the adventures of Sherlock Holmes and his resolute sidekick, Dr. Watson. It’s this very hunger for mystery that brought about Sherlock Holmes and the Spinsters of Blackmead, an original new play from the Theater Company of Lafayette, writer C.P. Stancich and director Erich Toll.

“It’s a classic whodunit with language very much in 1897, but still filled with wit and humor for a modern audience,” Toll says. And it's a whodunit, indeed, as the actors weren’t even given the final pages of the play until just days before opening night.

The audience will get a chance to play detective as well. “During intermission, audience members will get to place their guesses about the murderer for a chance to win prizes,” says artistic director Madge Montgomery. “I think people will jump out of their seats when we get to the end,” Toll adds.
