These days, it's a dog-eat-dog world for flea and craft markets; you have to set yourself apart in some way, and in the case of the fledgling Lucky Pearl Bazaar, that's all taken care of. Imagined by organizer Mandy Yocom as a complement to South Pearl Street's Sunday farmers' market, the monthly Sunday event has both indoor and outdoor components, as well as certain vendors you won't see anywhere else. "The fact that it's right down the street from the farmers' market makes it a fun day of shopping," Yocom says. "You can buy your fresh produce and bread, then walk down the street for some vintage and local handmade bargains."

Wares on display would include those from Yocom's own business, Fern & Sprout; furniture and collectibles from Decade boutique owner Kristen Tait; Helliemae's Salt Caramels (she's added a new and addictive banana pudding to her repertoire); clothing from Cali and Mo, Jil Cappuccio, Pearl Clothing and others; and jewelry, vintage clothing and, says Yocom, plenty of "junk, too. I encourage vendors to bring whatever they want."

Visit the Lucky Pearl Bazaar at 1757 South Pearl Street, today from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and every second Sunday through September; the bazaar is also open from 4 to 9 p.m. every First Friday through October, sporting changing themes and special guests for the area's evening artwalk.
