Everything's coming up Titanic at the Denver Central Library, where in commemoration of that tragedy a hundred years ago today, guests will gather in the B2 Conference Center for a Titanic Survivors Brunch, reminiscent of one that might have taken place on the RMS Carpathia, the first ship on the scene. The survivors hitched a ride back to New York on the Carpathia; now you can pretend to sip tea among their ranks. The brunch is a prelude to the main event, Frock Out 2012: Come Undone, a Titanic-themed fashion extravaganza that sets sail in the library on April 19. And it also might be a slight mea culpa from Frock Out organizer Chris Loffelmacher, who promises a fitting dose of elegance, history and music this morning before the real fun hits the runway.

"I mean, it's been a hundred years -- can we laugh yet?" Loffelmacher asks. "Frock Out will not be a spoof, but there are definitely some winks in it."

In the meantime, today's feast will include food from Whole Foods, music by a string quartet (which has been commissioned to play "Nearer, My God, to Thee" and "The Morning After" along with Titanic-era tunes) and staged readings of survivors' tales by actors Mare Trevathan and Tim McCracken, who will share the firsthand account of Marconi operator Harold Bride, who later sold his exclusive story to the New York Times. And the twelve Frock Out designers will be on hand to break bread with everyone.
