But that doesn’t mean you can’t still indulge your Potterphilia. Tonight, wizards and muggles alike will enjoy An Enchanting Evening of Wizardly Wonders, with performances by Harry and the Potters, the magical Potter Puppet Pals, and Mega Gem, a “pop-punk orchestra” that includes at least one local Quidditch player. Not enough magic for you? There will also be a sneak peek at a new board game based on the search for Horcruxes, plus a costume contest for the best-dressed witch or wizard. Everyone’s welcome, as long as they enjoy both Harry Potter and fun.
“We actually have a seven-year-old in our band. It’s definitely a family event, but it’s not just kids; it’s multi-generational,” says Oliver Ceelen of Mega Gem. “It’s going to be a fun event, so I want as many people as possible to come.”
The magic begins tonight at 7 p.m. at the Mercury Cafe, 2199 California Street; tickets are $7 to $15 on a sliding scale. For more info, visit on.fb.me/MEQw9J.
