“Normally, what was previously known as French Quarter Follies and is now Follies Voudou would be a ridiculously silly, improv comedy-heavy variety show with burlesque, but I think for this anniversary show, we are elevating it,” Renaud says. “We’ve invited some very special guests, and for this show, we’ll have a more serious tone, because we want to celebrate the hard work of everyone who’s been working on the show since the very beginning.”
Those performers include stage kitten (and improv comedian) Justin Franzen, Deirdre Von Derriere and Sapphire Stone, plus very special guests (and Denver burlesque royalty) Vivienne VaVoom and Kitty Crimson. There will also be a marketplace with handcrafted goods for sale.
Catch Follies Voudou at 8 p.m. every second and fourth Tuesday at Voodoo Comedy Playhouse, 1260 22nd Street; tickets are $9. For information, go to voodoocomedy.com/shows/follies-voudou
