Whereas painter Mark Penner-Howell dwells on how the positive exuberance of growth and diversity in nature is the same force that’s responsible for the unregulated cell growth we call cancer, Meagen Svendsen tackles the effect of noise pollution on nature by superimposing an airport noise-exposure map over a museum-style scene from the wild. Tomko herself dealt with exuberance in terms of “biological exuberance,” which strangely refers to the study of homosexuality and bisexuality in nature. “It’s about living life with more grace in adverse situations,” she explains. Additional members Erin Asmussen, John Haley III and Patrick Loehr added their own points of view, along with guest artist Matthew Levin.
