DVS1 has been a staple in the Midwest electronic-music scene since the mid-'90s, showcasing his enviable vinyl collection and incredible knowledge of music, and he'll no doubt entrance the crowds upstairs at 2200 tonight. There will also be local support from John Templeton, Tess and Dirty Qwerty. (9 p.m., 21+, $15)
In fact, 2200 has a bit of a split personality tonight; on the main floor, psychedelia is the name of the game, with Greasy Monk, D15CO, Schmid-E, Psyranno and HARDKORNATE spinning techno, psytrance and more. (There's no cover for this party, but you do have to pay to get upstairs.) (9 p.m., 21+, no cover)
Neon Knights are back on the dance floor this Friday with Shannon von Kelly, Dylan Le Disko and Tower doing the electro/disco/indie/synth/etc. thing at the Meadowlark. (9:30 p.m., 21+, $5)
The Dirty Funk Squad is bringing in someone very special tonight -- it's the return of DJ Carlos, the king of salsa house and legendary dance-floor shaker in the flesh. Heather Suzanne, Dylan and Mike Disco will help him bring (what else?) the funk to the Beauty Bar. This is also where you'll find directions to the after-party location with DJs Himay and Travis Press debuting as the Bedroom Hustlers. (9 p.m., 21+, no cover)The biggest news on Saturday night is no doubt Radio Slave, in from Berlin for his first Denver appearance in far too long. The legendary artist will be supported by Tess, Steofan and Nathan Brown at Artwork Network. RSVP to [email protected] for venue information and the link. (21+, 10 p.m., $15-$20)
And if you can't calm down after what's bound to be a stellar night of music, head to 2200 on Sunday morning for a no-sleep after-hours soundtrack featuring Mikerobot, Joey M., Hoang and more guests. (6:30 a.m., 21+)
