Foodchain tapped to rock Shady Records stage at SXSW this year

Boom! That's our first reaction to the Shady Records lineup for this year's SXSW. Take a look at the poster. Look closer. Uh-huh. There it is, right there: Next to all the boldfaced names, Yelawolf, Slaughterhouse and a Get Rich or Die Tryin'-performing 50 Cent, is Denver's own Foodchain. These guys have been working hard since the release of Brunch last November, and it appears as though all the hard work is paying off. With "Dear Industry" getting heavy rotation of Sirius's Shade 45, it was only a matter of time before the guys got the nod in a major way. We caught up with Mic Coats to get the drop.

Not to be missed is the fact that the members of the Foodchain are the only indie artists who will be performing, proving that once again that the act has what it takes to vie for a national audience while maintaining their authentic writing and performing style. Pretty much, it's swag city over at Foodchain headquarters, but the guys are keeping a very humble head.

"It's been a pretty amazing journey since Brunch initially came out, to see the extension of growth, and the people that have been turned on to it is amazing," says Mic Coats. "Not just people who approach when we're doing shows, but more as the people in the industry that have taken notice of it and have embraced the honest approach that we have to the music.

"That was one of the things that we had heard back from Paul Rosenberg at Shady Records, that he really appreciated the honest approach that we had," Coats reveals. "From there, it's been an incredible experience. We wanna share what we do with as many people as possible, and so having an opportunity to not only do the shows that we've been fortunate to do, but to be on a showcase stage of this caliber, is something that we've been focusing on. We are extremely humbled by it, and it's things like this that are bearing the fruit of the work we're putting in."
