THE STRING CHEESE INCIDENT @ 1STBANK CENTER | 12.29.12 Like a cross between Mardi Gras and Halloween, the String Cheese Incident's three-day party at 1STBANK Center drew a ton of especially colorful characters. We compiled a post featuring the ten best costumes from the first night, and posted a ton of other pictures in the full slide show.

LUMINEERS @ OGDEN THEATRE | 12/30/12 At Sunday night's sold-out Lumineers show at the Ogden, Wesley Schultz and company made their way up to the balcony for a glorious unmiked rendition of "Ho Hey." While the entire set was energizing, this was by far the most standout moment.

BLACK ANGELS @ BLUEBIRD THEATER | 12/30/12 One of the best moments of the Black Angels' show at the Bluebird Theater last night came in the middle of the set when the band -- playing the first of its two night New Year's Eve run -- played "Phosphene Dream," the familiar title track from its 2010 album. The guitar resonated like a stuttering, yet controlled, welding sound effected by a masterful use of tremolo, creating a fuzzy, hefty, textured low end that boosted the sense of otherworldliness this act creates at its shows. STS9 @ FILLMORE AUDITORIUM | 12/31/12 STS9 headlined another highly anticipated New Year's Eve three-night run that attracted a throng of fans for its Time Within Evolving Living Vehicle Earth tour stop. Brandon Marshall was on hand to capture the scene. We posted all the pics he brought back in our full slide show.

FIVE IRON FRENZY @ CASSELMAN'S BAR & VENUE | 12/31/12 From the very beginning of its New Year's Eve set at Casselman's Bar & Venue in Denver, Five Iron Frenzy brought an enormous amount of energy, fueled by a clear sense of joy at performing. The old fans were incredibly happy to get to see the band again, and the fans who never got to see the band the first time around were equally charged, with their enthusiasm matched by the enthusiasm coming off the stage. The exuberance was infectious. Even if this was your first time seeing the group, it felt like seeing friends you haven't seen in a while. [continue on to full review]

AMON TOBIN @ CITY HALL | 12/31/12 Amon Tobin approached the stage shortly after the official countdown to the new year and immediately launched into a set that blew minds and caught some folks off guard, those folks who may have only been familiar with music played on his ISAM tour. His New Year's Eve set at City Hall was full of low-down, dirty drum and bass and void of any of that new age, fast dubstep. For the first moments of 2013, Tobin absolutely tore City Hall apart with 170 bpm breaks, while showing remarkable courage in his choice of samples. [continue on to full review or full slide show]

DECADENCE @ COLORADO CONVENTION CENTER | 12/31/12 It wouldn't be Denver if there wasn't a massive EDM blowout. This New Year's Eve edition went down at the Colorado Convention and attracted a throng of dance fans all looking to get down. Eric Gruneisen was on hand to capture the scene, and we posted all of the pics he brought back in the full slide show.
