Here in Colorado, Mane Rok and Dee Jay Tense will donate 100 percent of the proceeds from their show tomorrow (with Kenan Bell, Gavin, Dyalekt, Isolated Generation and Qbala) directly to the fund that will support the hip-hop legend.
"Whereas this is an everyday situation for millions of Americans, being that Kool Herc is the father of one of the United States' only true cultural contributions to the world that has itself become a billion-dollar industry," says Mane, "Dee Jay Tense and I know that it is both our duty and honor to give 100% of the proceeds received from our show tomorrow at the Curtis Street Bar -- with Kenan Bell, Gavin, Dyalekt, Isolated Generation and Qbala -- to Kool Herc.
"No Herc," he goes on, "no us."
Tomorrow night's show is 21-plus at Old Curtis Street Bar; cover is $5 for the fellas and $3 for the ladies. A good cause if we've ever seen one.
