Warm is the new Thursday night house music weekly at Gallery 22 (formerly the Loft at 821 22nd Street). This week, special guest Kurt Yates joins Warm residents Joey M, Louis Marr and Brandon Bass on DJ duty. Yates was a former resident at Soma during the Boulder nightclub's heyday in the early 2000s, when he played alongside a number of big names, including Nick Warren, Hybrid and Sander Kleinenberg. Absent from the Colorado scene, living out of state for the last couple of years, Yates will likely draw some old heads out to the new weekly.
Friday night, Sugar House (1395 West Alameda Avenue) hosts House for the Holidays. Barry Weaver of Funky Tekno Tribe headlines the event along with Greg Eversoul, Dave Parrish, Tony Rodelli, Chris Irvin, Nutmeg, Naudio, Self Inflicted and Brett Starr. Promoters Musik1st recently brought Seattle DJ/producer Pezzner to Sugar House.
Also this Friday, the fifth monthly installment of Sex Panther at Beauty Bar (608 East 13th Avenue) features a DJ/VJ set from special guest CacheFlow, in addition to sets by Sex Panther regulars Max Klaw, J-Grilla and Jah Rocker. Meanwhile, at the Gothic, turntablist Cut Chemist (Jurassic 5, Ozomatli) performs along with J Flash.
Saturday night at the Werks (3821 B. Steele Street), Singularity features New York's Steven Lee, Cyberoptix from L.A./Memphis, Woody McBride aka DJ ESP and Texan Dave Barker. McBride's unique take on authentic techno makes him the act to catch. Early support provided by a number of quality local DJs.
