One of the first people to alert Guarino was Big Gigantic's manager, Ben Baruch. "It was real frantic in the office," Baruch recalls. "But once we got it uploaded to YouTube, things settled down. We really just wanted to get it out there to the fans."
Understandably excited, the members of Big Gigantic posted more links to the download and offered a play-by-play of the whole thing on their Facebook page. This is the first time something like this has happened to the site, which was launched early last year, prompting Guarino to make immediate calls to upgrade the server.
"Nick has been a big supporter of the band and electronic music in general," says Baruch. "He gets huge hits when he releases stuff through his website. We always usually release through our own, but we wanted to get a bigger outreach and keep it local with a Boulder blog."
Big Gigantic is having a pretty big year so far. The Boulder act kicked off the year by turning in a mesmerizing set on the Jam Cruise in January and then absolutely crushed its spring tour kick off at the Fox in Boulder later that month.
The group is currently working on the next album, which is due out sometime this fall. In the meantime, you can download "The World Is Yours," which features Dominic Lalli's passionate sax work delicately played between a heavy dub, similar to that of the heavy drop in "Step Up," off the recent album, A Place Behind the Moon.
