After a hot day of hiking under the Colorado sun, the only thing more satisfying than ice cream is cheap ice cream. Not that we need an excuse to indulge, but this Sunday is National Ice Cream Day (according to the people who come up with all these national food days). At Chautauqua Park in Boulder, the new General Store, which now occupies cottage 100 right next to the historic Chautauqua Dining Hall, is offering a two-for-one deal on ice cream, sundaes and shakes on July 20.

The Chautauqua Dining Hall underwent a six-month renovation in 2013 and opened under the management of Three Leaf Concepts (which also operates the Boulder Dushanbe Tea House). The company now also runs the General Store, where it sells seven flavors of ice cream made in the Dining Hall's kitchen -- including Teahouse chai ice cream made with chai from the Dushanbe Teahouse -- as well as pastries, cookies, trail mix, fruit leather and beef jerky. Products such as locally made Three Leaf Farm Herbal salve and lotions are available at the store as well.

The General Store's regular hours are 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily through September. It also stays open through intermission at concert nights at Chautauqua.
