Not only is new chef Zach Hendershot (who'd been Selby's sous, after cooking at Vine Street Pub and Row 14) in the House house, but so are bar manager Allie Contreras, who came from Pittsburgh, and bar maestro Hadi Kitri, who spent the last four years at French 75 in New Orleans.
Corner House is now open only for dinner Tuesday through Friday, with happy hour running from 4 to 6 p.m. and half-price wine all night on Tuesdays; brunch starts at 9 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, with dinner service offered Saturday. The menu has been updated, with favorites such as pork green chili (yes, that's how Corner House spells it) and short-rib chiliquiles (ditto) still on the roster, but also new seasonal dishes, as well.
And while Corner House pioneered this part of Jefferson Park, it won't be lonely for long. Right by 2914 Coffee, on West 25th Avenue at Elliot, work is moving fast on chef Brian Laird's Sarto's, the Jefferson Park Pub and a third Sexy Pizza, all slated to open in early 2014.
