It's been just over a year since Danny Wang and his fiancee Betty Fey opened CAUTION: Brewing Company, a brewery that was initially a wholesale operation that would supply Lao Wang Lager to Lao Wang Noodle House, owned by Wang's parents, as well as other Colorado restaurants.

In January, though, the couple announced that they'd taken over the space next door to their brewing facility and were building out a taproom, giving beer fans a chance to post up and sample their entire lineup. "As of April 1, we doubled in size," says Wang. "It's a nice, wide open space, and it's dedicated to the taproom."

The couple has been hard at work outfitting the space since then, an effort, says Wang, that has been "very homegrown, hand's on and hand-built." And starting Friday, May 18, they'll open their efforts to the public every Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Wang and Fey are giving more incentive to stop by that first weekend, too. "We're releasing our Hippity Hops on May 19th in the taproom," says Wang, referring to the Chrysanthemum IPA he and Fey have been working on. "It's almost finished, and it's going to be awesome. It's very different and not what you expect from your typical IPA."

Wang and Fey are also selling VIP growlers that weekend: "We'll sell them for $40, and that includes a free fill of the beer at the taproom...and $6 growlers through the end of 2013," Wang explains. But those growlers, which are individually numbered, will only be available until they run out.

And the taproom will be the best place to sample what Fey and Wang are brewing up. "We've been stocking up for the taproom," Wang admits, which means they've been holding kegs they normally ship out to restaurants. Right now, notes the brewer, you can find Lao Wang Lager at Lao Wang, of course, and a smoked imperial porter crafted by Fey on the guest tap at Great Storm Brewing in Colorado Springs. Hippity Hops, adds Wang, will be available at Denver Bicycle Cafe a couple of weeks after the release.

Otherwise, you better go directly to the source to get your growler.
