5) Chicken Burger Larkburger It's called the Chicken Burger, which doesn't really make sense. But we're not going to quibble with a Colorado chain that is doing so well it just opened its eighth spot, this one in Northglenn. The Chicken Burger is made with grilled chicken breast marinated in adobo, a spicy and mildly sweet marinade with hints of cinnamon and jalapeño. It's served with crispy jalapeño strips, cilantro and house-made chipotle sauce. Click through for more sandwich statement options. 4) Southernfried Belgian D Bar Desserts As former Westword restaurant critic Laura Shunk wrote last summer on this take on a classic dish: "Despite D Bar's obvious focus on after-meal sweets, the savory food shouldn't be overlooked. Case in point: the Southernfried Belgian, a towering chicken and waffle sandwich that slides thick hunks of crispy fried chicken between white cheddar and Parmesan-infused waffles." The first is the Chicken Shawerma, but the meatier meal is the Chicken Kifta Kabob Sandwich, which is a massive skewer of seasoned ground chicken served with lettuce, tomatoes and garlic sauce. Truth? Fiction? It doesn't matter. What's important is how tasty this sandwich is. That description either made your knees weak or made you slightly nauseous. If you're in the first group, let's just say that this is the chicken sandwich you need to eat next -- whether it's from the DBC's brick-and-mortar location inside the Atomic Cowboy or from the Biscuit Bus.
