According to owner Majed Khaski, the landlord was going to raise the rent when the ten-year lease expired. "It more than doubled the rent on the building and we couldn't afford it," Khaski says.
The owners are going to try to reopen Ya Hala in some other spot. "We're still looking for another place," Khaski adds. "It's not going to be soon."
The owners also run Donut Burst in Lakewood.
