Every Wednesday through May 23, the Rackhouse Pub will tap a beer from Avery Brewing Company during "Sour Hour," from 4 to 6 p.m. And anyone in attendance can enter to win a pair of tickets to Avery's 2012 Boulder SourFest, which takes place June 2. (Even better, transportation will be provided from the Rackhouse to the festival and back.) Avery's Uncle Jacob's Stout will be tapped tonight, followed by Anniversary Tripel on May 2.
The BrewDEN beer meetup/tweetup group will convene in person at Star Bar tonight from 6 to 8 p.m. to talk brews and news.

Stand clear for the resurrection of Avery Brewing's Samael's Ale, its seasonal English strong ale. You can join in a multi-year vertical tasting -- with food -- beginning at 6:30 p.m. in the Avery tasting room in Boulder. Tickets are $20; seating is limited.

Tickets for Avery Brewing's June 2 Boulder SourFest go on sale today at 9 a.m. at www.ticketalternative.com. These are the beer world's equivalent of tickets to Book of Mormon or the World Series or, dare we say it, the original Van Halen. So log on early and often. Last year, tickets sold out within minutes.

The Oskar Blues brewing juggernaut began life fifteen years ago in Lyons when Dale Katechis founded the Oskar Blues Grill & Brew. Today the company will celebrate its birthday at the brewpub with a full day of family activities, including a live petting zoo, music by Interstate Stash Express and the Informants, specialty canned craft beer and root beer, a pig roast, a crawfish boil, commemorative T-shirts, an Oskar Blues race car appearance, a photo booth and a local artist gallery. The party will also serve as the launch for Oskar Blues's 15th Anniversary Abbey Ale in sixteen-ounce cans, and for B. Stiff and Sons Old Fashioned Rootbeer, which is dedicated to Brian Stiff, a Lyons local and father of two who died in February. A portion of the sales of the root beer will go to Stiff's wife and children.
Sunday, April 29
Renegade Brewing will re-release its Sunday Morning Ale today at 8 a.m. Why 8 a.m.? Because the beer is made with coffee roasted locally by Novo Coffee. Oh, and because pints are only $1 if you get there that early. At 9 a.m., pints cost a whopping $2, at 10 a.m., they are $3, and at 11 a.m., they settle in at $4 for the rest of the day. The Chef Driven food truck will be serving delicious breakfast all morning.
Friday, May 4
Hops & Pie will crack a firkin of Hops Noir IPA from the Wynkoop Brewing Company today at 6 p.m. as part of its monthly Firkin First Friday program. The beer is hopped five times during the brewing process, mainly with Cascade hops, but also with Centennial and Mount Hood varieties. It is later dry-hopped with Columbus hops. Once in the firkin, it is infused with ground coffee and Citra hops.
