That sums up the sentiment of one Denver Yelper, who reviewed China Star, a homely joint at 2831 East Colfax that said Yelper will be pleased to know is now closed.

But not for long...Pepper Asian Bistro is taking over the space, and beyond the brown paper that shields the interior, which is still undergoing construction, is a freshly painted, saffron-hued room and a beautiful layered brick wall that stretches from the floor to the ceiling. No word on when it will open, but owner Shi Bing Ke is scheduled to appear in front of the Department of Excise and Licenses on Friday, February 28, to plead his case for a liquor license.
