Copper Mountain's axe-centric Guitar Town music festival turns five this year when it returns to the resort two weeks from today. It'll also mark the fourth year for the fest's Art Guitar Silent Auction, which features twenty cast-away instruments donated by the Guitar Center and brought back to life by a flock of Colorado artists.

But before the musical artworks make the trek up to the hills, Denverites will have a one-night chance to place opening bids on their favorites, this evening from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Kanon Collective in Denver's Art District on Santa Fe. And along with the auction sneak peek, you'll also get a taste of Guitar Town's talent: Jazz guitarist Sean McGowan will perform in Kanon's intimate back-door courtyard. Can't get by tonight? The guitars will move on to the Guitar Center, 1585 South Colorado Boulevard, from July 29 to August 5, and then, of course, bidding will continue in Copper during Guitar Town.

Auction proceeds will benefit MusiCares, a national foundation that provides assistance to musicians during times of need. Visit the Guitar Town website for more information.
