In an e-mail exchange yesterday, local journalist Dave Cullen, author of the well-reviewed book Columbine, declined to talk for a blog about Oprah Winfrey's last-minute decision not to air a pre-taped program about shootings at the school ten years ago. However, he wound up offering a few comments later in the day, when Rachel Maddow brought up the subject toward the tail end of a live interview for her MSNBC show. Cullen admitted to being disappointed by Winfrey's choice, but he also expressed understanding, noting that he'd just attended a memorial service for the victims shortly before heading to the studio for his chat with Maddow and understood how tough a day it was for people in Jefferson County.
