Late on July 4, Denver Police officers responded to a call at 14954 East Elk Place in Montbello, an area captured in the graphic above (if you have problems seeing the image, click "View Larger Map"). There, they found two men suffering from gunshot wounds: one dead, one alive. Now, the Denver Coroner's Office has identified the decedent as Bill Strother, who perished as the result of a "perforating gunshot wound of the chest."
Below, find the DCO release, which also identifies Candace Jeckel as the victim in a traffic accident that took place at the intersection of Alameda and Washington Street early this past Saturday morning.

On July 5, 2009 the Denver Office of the Medical Examiner received notification of a death at the University Hospital Emergency Room.Mr. Bill Strother, (70/B/M) of Denver Colorado was pronounced dead at 12:05 A.M., 7/5/2009 after being transported from 14954 E. Elk Place in Denver, to the hospital shortly before.
This office completed an autopsy on Mr. Strother today. The cause of death is Homicide and the Manner of death is Perforating Gunshot Wound of the Chest.

On July 4, 2009 at 5:05 A.M., this office was requested to respond to Alameda and Washington St., Denver, Colorado. Ms. Candace Jeckel (38/W/F) of Denver Colorado had been involved in a traffic accident at that location. An autopsy was performed by this office and the cause of death is Accident and the Manner of death is Multiple Blunt Force Injuries secondary to Motor Vehicle Collision.
