In a blog published yesterday morning, I noted that the Denver Police Department's sex-crimes unit had put out an alert about a "pattern offender" -- but the notice contained no description of the actual offenses. Perhaps that's unsurprising given the DPD's rather haphazard approach to information dispersal. Typical was a release issued last night about a May 29 murder in which the names of both the suspect and the victim were spelled differently than in previous missives. In this case, though, the department has at least added some specificity, pointing out that the man in question is accused of inappropriate touching -- i.e., groping -- during several recent incidents that took place in an area bordered by York Street, 1st Avenue, 13th Avenue and Speer Boulevard. Oh yeah: The word "approximately" is misspelled twice -- but at least the misspellings are consistent. Check out the clarification after the jump.
Attached is a composite sketch of a suspect that may have inappropriately touched four females between June 11th at approxamatley 12:30 p.m. and June 13th at approxamatley 9:20 p.m. The composite is based on the description given by one of the victims. Denver police would anyone who information about this suspect or these incidents to call 720-913-2000 or crime Stoppers at 720-913-STOP (7867).
