The Northern Colorado Bomb Squad has safely disposed of a hand grenade found in a Fort Collins residence earlier this afternoon.At 12:34 pm, a building contractor working inside an unoccupied home in the 400 block of Clover Lane called Fort Collins Police Services to report finding a hand grenade. Officers quickly secured the residence until the Northern Colorado Bomb Squad arrived on scene. Bomb techs removed the grenade from the home and about 15 minutes later determined it to be inert, or inoperable, at the time it was found.
Poudre Fire Authority and ambulance crews were also on scene during the incident which lasted roughly 90 minutes. There were no evacuations.
