Although the future of the cannabis industry remains cloudy with a chance of assholes, many people still want to get into the market on the ground floor.

Folks like this should be interested in the two marijuana business conferences coming to town — and there's also a deadline to criticize the state's Marijuana Enforcement Division and more in this week's cannabis calendar.

The National Cannabis Industry Association and ServSafe will be holding a a training course for food handlers in the cannabis industry today at 2 p.m. in the lower level of the Colorado Restaurant Association, located at 430 E. Seventh Avenue. The class is $67 for National Cannabis Industry Association members and $87 for nonmembers. Students will receive a certification in handling pot-infused foods upon passing. For more information on the class, click here.

The Radisson Hotel in Aurora will be hosting a one-day conference on cannabis real estate on Friday, March 27 from 7:30 a.m to 12:30 p.m. "Bricks & Mortar Marijuana Real Estate Seminars," put on by Avalon Realty Advisors, will focus on business and real estate cycles, local regulation and licensing, security, construction, and market and expansion strategies for the pot industry. Geared toward "current industry businesses, new market entrants and real estate professionals," the seminar will have sessions and experts on the aforementioned topics, and costs $125 to attend. For those looking to invest in the pot industry but don't have expertise in real estate, Marijuana Investment and Private Retreat will be holding a Marijuana Investment Conference for numerous pot venture strategies on Saturday, March 28 at the Double Tree Hotel, 3203 Quebec Street. The six-hour conference, featuring speakers such as Cannabis Global's Wanda James and Dixie Elixers's Tripp Keber, starts at 9:30 a.m. and costs $275-$425 to attend, although more expensive options are available for VIP access to events throughout the weekend. The Cannabis Business Alliance will forward your comments on some proposed rule changes concerning edibles packaging to the Colorado Marijuana Enforcement Division this week if you send your thoughts by Monday, March 30. One new set of regulations would require each single-serving edible to be individually packaged in a child-resistant container by the manufacturer and calls for more information on wholesale packaging. Another proposed change would require "necessary and relevant information for consumers" on the packaging and would ban health and benefit claims by the edible manufacturer.

Although a huge number of classes are on the agenda for the week of April 20, Clover Leaf University will be holding a Green House 101 class on outdoor cannabis cultivation on Tuesday, March 31 at 4 p.m. The four-hour course, taught by horticulturalists, will cost $199 to attend and will teach students about spatial organization, growing mediums, watering, lighting, ventilation, plant cycles and equipment. The class will take place at the Auraria Campus. Click here for more information.

The 2nd Annual NoCo Hemp Expo will be held in Loveland on April 4 from 10 a.m.- 6 p.m. at The Ranch. The expo features over sixty exhibiting companies and more than thirty industry expert speakers covering a vast array of topics related to industrial and medicinal hemp.
