The urban gardening movement is growing and it found fertile ground in northern California. In 2012, in an act of civil disobedience, dozens of urban farmers took over a piece of land called the Gill Tract, an area once dedicated to agricultural studies and owned by the University of California, Berkeley. Occupy the Farm, a documentary that screens at the SieFilmCenter at 7:15 p.m. tonight, explores the history of this project. In advance of the screening, Westword spoke with the film's director, Todd Darling. Read his interview here, and go here for tickets.

Lower48 Kitchen
continues its Tuesday Tastings with an exploration of the foods of South Carolina under the direction of chef Alex Figura. In addition to featuring its regular menu, Lower48 introduces a new regional offering every Tuesday, a three-course, prix fixe meal that's $34 and focuses on a different state or region in the United States. Later this month, Lower48 will travel through West Virginia, Florida and Texas. For reservations or more information, call the restaurant at 303-942-0262.
