The Trucks Stop Here: Eleven Tastiest Events on This Week's Culinary Calendar

Defrost from this weekend's snow at some sizzling events. As the weather heats up, so will the dining scene, with food-truck festivals rolling out all over town. You can also celebrate the pairing of whiskey and doughnuts and Colorado's ever-growing craft-beer scene. 

Monday, May 11

The weather is clearing just in time for Prospect Sound Bites Summer Concert Series and Food Truck Festival, which will bring thrills and grills to Prospect Park in Longmont every Monday starting today. Jazz band Dotsero will be the first to grace the Prospect Park Stage, and over a dozen food trucks will be on hand. Frasca Food and Wine will host a tribute to Grace with Angela Osborne this evening. The Monday Night Wine Dinners are $50 per person and include four courses; wine pairings are an additional $40 to 50. For reservations or more information, call Frasca at 303-442-6966.

Tuesday, May 12

Randolph’s Restaurant & Bar is teaming up with Metro CareRing and kicking off "Toucan Tuesdays" today. During this fundraiser, guests who bring two cans of nonperishable food items to Randolph’s will receive two-for-one draft beers. All cans will be donated to Metro CareRing, Denver’s leading hunger-relief organization. For more information on Metro CareRing, click here. 

Take advantage of the warmer weather forecast for today and get out to Civic Center Eats, which Westword is sponsoring this year. The food-truck fest is already going strong in Civic Center Park, where lunch will be served every Tuesday and Thursday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. through October 7, excluding a few selected dates. Lower48 Kitchen will celebrate the foods of the Golden State all month long with a $36 three-course tasting menu that will be introduced tonight. The menu will change every Tuesday to highlight a different region of California, from the Bay Area and Baja to Southern California and the Central Coast. Wednesday, May 13 

Stir Cooking School will be teaching Classic French Bistro Dishes at a class at 6:30 p.m. The course will teach participants how to cook bacon and leek quiche, chicken fricassee with tarragon, tarte tatin with vanilla whipped cream and more. New Belgium Brewing and Girls Pint Out are teaming up to host a night of beer, food and mixers of all kind. in honor of New Belgium’s Latest Lips of Faith Release, Pear Ginger. The event includes one cocktail made with New Belgium’s Pear Ginger beer, two samples of beer cocktails, samples of other New Belgium beers, appetizers and plenty of mingling, all for $10. If doughnuts and whiskey aren't a match made in heaven, we'd rather be in hell. Today from 6 to 9 p.m., you can kick the weekend off right at Whiskey Throwdown, Doughnut Showdown 2.0, at Thrive Ballpark, 1415 Park Ave West. The event will bring together Lamar's Donuts, Glazed and Confused Donuts, VooDoo Donuts, Breckenridge Bourbon, Stranahan's, Deerhammer and more. Oskar Blues presents the first annual Oskar Blues CAN'd Aid Foundation's Grip, Sip, Give Classic at Twin Peaks Golf Course in Longmont today. The golf tournament is open to golfers of all skill levels and will feature a longest drive contest, a closest to the pinner challenge and the longest marshmallow drive. Registration is $100 per golfer and includes greens fees, cart, swag bag, raffle ticket, breakfast by Cylhops Bike CAN-tina and dinner by Oskar Blues Homemade Liquids and Solids.
