In the past two weeks, two markets have closed and then re-opened after accidents. Last week a crane toppled and knocked a hole in the roof at the Source in River North, and this week a driver plowed his SUV into Marczyk Fine Foods on East Colfax Avenue. Let's hope this isn't a continuing fad — we'd much rather see trends like Denver's current barbecue binge, which brought Globe Hall and Carve Barbecue to town this week. But at least the news was all good for two other markets: Cured West in Boulder and Max Market in the Ballpark Neighborhood both started serving up sandwiches and groceries.
And where there's smoke, there's fire: Gretchen Kurtz visited the Art Hotel on Broadway to see if its restaurant, Fire, is in need of a spark. Meanwhile, Mark Antonation looked in on three restaurants to see if poutine is still a happening thing. And yes, this spud's for you....
