This month offers many ways to revamp your style and prepare for the hotter season ahead, everything from festivals to fashion shows. Keep reading for the best twelve fashion events in April, in chronological order. 

12. Prom Swap

Noon to 8 p.m. Friday, April 1
Belmar Library
555 South Allison Parkway, Lakewood
Get ready for prom season at the fifth annual Prom Swap, a Jefferson County tradition. Teens who donate dresses, tuxedos, suits, shoes and accessories receive tickets to trade for new items; they can also trade for tickets with canned goods: five cans per dress, tux or suit, two for shoes, one per accessory. But anyone can make donations at the library; proceeds will benefit Florence Crittenton High School, one of the largest providers of services for pregnant and parenting teens in Colorado. 11. Red Pearl Movie Premiere at City Hall

Denver Fashion Weekend Spring 2016 will kick off with this event, the premiere of Denver's first fashion comedy-drama, Red Pearl, featuring protagonist Scarlet, who is fresh out of fashion school and mentored by Project Runway star and Denver native Mondo Guerra, in a cameo role. 10. Aveda Catwalk for Water
7 to 9 p.m. Saturday, April 2

Every year, Aveda hosts a hair-and-makeup show, and this year's is Catwalk for Water. Aveda's team, students and partner salons will showcase hair and makeup inspired by Earth Month; looks are inspired by the themes of recyclable materials, pollution and sustainability. 9. Massif Fashion Week Spring 2016

Massif Fashion Week is a runway event that caters to retail buyers, fashion enthusiasts and the garment industry as a whole. This event promises to be an evening of runway fashion, art, photography and fun; it will be followed by a few days of fashion pop-up shops. Admission sales and silent-auction proceeds will benefit Extended Hands of Hope, a local nonprofit that focuses on sheltering victims of human sex trafficking. 8. Skin Care Expert at AILLEA
Noon to 2 p.m. Saturday, April  2

Celebrity skin-care expert Indie Lee, founder of the nationally renowned skin-care brand Indie Lee, will hold a master class at Larimer Square's clean-beauty retailer, AILLEA. Lee will share stories of her personal journey as well as the brand’s story as you learn how to read product labels and what ingredients to limit or avoid. 7. Fluid Fashion Show
7 p.m. Saturday, April 2

Fluid is a contemporary fashion show that blends fashions from local boutiques and designers with hair styling and makeup by local stylists; it raises funds for the Mineral Springs Foundation of Manitou Springs and supports shopping in the area. The evening includes a cocktail reception, a silent auction, music by local DJ and production company Eddy Sound, and food provided by Good Karma Cafe of Manitou Springs. 6. 303 Magazine Presents: Denver Fashion Weekend Spring 2016
7 p.m. Wednesday, April 6, through Sunday, April 10

For the opening night of Denver Fashion Weekend, 303 Magazine is bringing back the 303 Awards, honoring local artists in all genres; the magazine and hair stylist Charlie Price are also partnering for the second year of the Southwest Hairstyling Awards. The second night of DFW will feature local designers and alternative models, including plus-sized models, petite and tattooed models, and models over thirty as local designers showcase their latest collections. 5. Colorado Leather Fest
April 8 through April 10

If you are into kinky S&M clothes, leather accessories or are just plain curious, visit the Colorado Leather Fest, which will feature all things leather, including a master-and-slave contest, leather banquet and lifestyle classes. 4. Neiman Marcus Trunk Shows

Neiman Marcus hosts a slew of fashion events every month, and April is no exception. On April 14 the store will feature an Elizabeth Locke trunk show; each piece of jewelry was designed by Elizabeth Locke and completely handmade in nineteen-karat gold. On April 15-16, the Diana M trunk show will feature high-quality diamonds and gemstones in designs by Diana M. Designer Rebecca Proctor will appear in person on April 16 for the new MacKenzie Childs collection of home decor and gift items.
