Big props to the Athena Project Arts Festival for putting on events that support women's creativity. Tonight the festival is offering a behind-the-scenes view of local playwright Christie Winn's play, Cabaret Kalisz. The story centers on Natalia, the youngest of six women struggling to survive in a Nazi labor camp, who dreams of the day she'll be able to return to the Cabaret Kalisz. The free reading will take place in the Byron Theater in the Newman Center complex.

Get a jumpstart on your summer plans — heck, on everyone's summer plans. Learn how the city plans to turn the 16th Street Mall into a spirited stretch during the warmer months at this public meeting, and hear about Meet in the Street, The Outdoor Downtown and the Prototyping Festival, among other things. You'll also find out how you can contribute by volunteering or even performing.

The Comedy Battle Royale will feature twelve comedians in a brutal joke-telling battle, where the audience decides who moves on. The comedian who gets the green light to perform five rounds of comedy will be crowned the champion. It's going to get wild and cutthroat, and their fate is in your hands — if you show up, that is.
