Denver's street-style scene is heating up. This week we spotted Nicole Ault, a student at Metropolitan State University of Denver, in Five Points, and chatted with her about her striking silhouette, where she shops, and what inspires her fashion sense.
Her favorite accessory? "Sunglasses or shoes," Ault says. "I never own many sunglasses at once, but I'm very particular on the ones I buy, and they usually go with my style at the moment."

Of her other favorite accessory, she says: "Shoes can add or take away from an outfit. They are like the staple of the outfit." Here she's rocking black strappy sandals from H&M and pants from Nasty Gal online.
Her favorite color: "Burnt or rustic orange and a light pink, like dusty rose."

Style inspirations and icons: "I love Kendall Jenner's basics, Rihanna's hipness and her attitude that complements her style. I like Lady Gaga's hair and obscurity. I'm currently into a modern take on 1970s style, as well as a desert-boho-type style.  My style would be those two combined, with a more hip or modern street-style filter."

Style mantra: "I like to dress in a way that represents me, that represents both my personality and my mood or feelings that day," Ault says.
"I love to shop Nasty Gal online, and the Trend department at H&M mostly," Ault says. "I do adore the occasional find at a thrift store or Buffalo Exchange, though. I would love to wear more Discount Universe."

With this outfit, Ault demonstrates the best way to pull off a crop top with high-waisted pants. Her matching black leather peep-toe shoes and crop top balance her ’70s-inspired rust pants with side slits. Ault's look remains tasteful while mixing textures and colors, and shows off just the right amount of skin without going over the top. Most important, Ault is having fun with fashion.

Always take a risk with your street fashion, Denver.
