Everybody's favorite fried-chicken-joint-slash-petting-zoo, White Fence Farm, is making urban inroads. When Craig Caldwell and Tom Piercy bought the Lakewood family restaurant from founder Charlie Wilson in 2014, they had a goal of growing the business with several quick-service outposts. The first opened in Green Valley Ranch at the end of last year, a second opened at the Pepsi Center, and now two more are slated to open in June: one at 1025 East Ninth Avenue in Capitol Hill and one at West 88th Avenue and Wadsworth Boulevard in Arvada. Additionally, a White Fence Farm kiosk will debut next month on the 16th Street Mall at California Street, and plans are in the works for an outpost at Elitch Gardens.

The Capitol Hill location, at the corner of Ninth Avenue and Corona Street in what was formerly an Einstein Bros. Bagels, will primarily serve as a takeout stop for the beloved fried chicken, corn fritters and other country-style sides, but there will also be a few tables for neighbors who prefer their bird hot out of the fryer.
If family trips to the White Fence acreage were part of your childhood experience, you'll now be able to relive them with great fried chicken in a number of locations — and without the allergy flare-ups from petting those goats and pigs.
