Refugees: In Their Own Words

Some folks get frazzled by moving into a new apartment on the other side of town because of rising rent prices. Imagine moving across the globe to escape persecution and violence. Listen to the tales of refugees as they recount their lives, before and after displacement. It takes courage to leave your home and even more to share that story — especially in these times. Give it up for these inspiring humans.

Twelve jokesters enter, one leaves, and it's all up to the audience to pick the winner, as comedians like Will Hancock, Zac Felts and many more go face to face. Blood probably won't spill, but beer definitely will.

Let's dig up some Denver history with the Mutiny Songwriters Society. It's a reincarnation of sorts from the Bender's Tavern Wednesday Night Originals. Hear music from these local songwriters and, more important, the stories behind the songs. Three of the four original members of the society, Billy the Poet, Luke Schmaltz and Jamie Haner, will play their tunes, so join them tonight and every first Thursday of the month going forward.
