Named after the University of Wisconsin mascot, this Wisconsin-themed sports bar caters to fans of the Brewers, Badgers, Bucks and Packers, rather than just fans of cheap beer and drunken bar talk, as was the case with the Badger's predecessor, the Brown Barrel, which occupied this South Broadway spot for close to three decades. A makeover transformed the once-dingy dive, and sports memorabilia now lines the walls where nautical items used to be. Read more about this Denver bar or club >>
http://www.sherlockspubco.com The Baker Street Pub and Grill is a Texas-based, British-style pub chain with four locations in Colorado. The name should clue you in to the atmosphere of the place: Baker Street was where Sherlock Holmes kept his office, and the vibe is appropriately Old English, with dark, heavy wood prominent in the furnishings. Baker Street has a large selection of both draft and bottled beers; wine and mixed drinks are also available. Try one of the pub's Guinness beer cocktails, which range from the familiar Black and Tan (Guinness and Bass) to the unusual Black Tire (Guinness and Fat Tire). The large food menu includes soup, salads, sandwiches, fish and chips, burgers and other grill items. A generous happy hour runs every day of the week, and regularly changing drink specials are also on offer. Read more about this Denver bar or club >>
You'd think with a name like the Balloon Inn, the place would be decked out in a bunch of clown and circus memorabilia. But this spacious, no-frills dive bar in an Arvada strip mall leans more toward sports, if anything. Framed photos of Broncos players hang above the bar, and there are a number of TVs to catch all the action, as well as three shuffleboard tables and a few pool tables. With its wood paneling and weathered bar stools, the place feels comfortably worn. On the weekends, the Balloon fills up with a friendly set of Arvada regulars. http://www.bannockstreetgarage.com The Bannock Street Garage didn't pull its name out of thin air: For years, it was a Volkswagen repair shop. That is, until 2004, when it was refit as a bar as divey as anything you'd care to find in the metro area. Its garage roots are still evident by the massive door at the front, the cement floors and the large, open patio in the back. The place tends to attract crowds in their mid-twenties to mid-thirties, with celebrations ranging from First Fridays showcasing art to open-mike nights once a month for performers. And if that isn't enough to entertain you, there are plenty of traditional bar games as well, including pool and darts. Read more about this Denver bar or club >>
The Recovery Room catered mostly, as its name implied, to the many employees of the ever-disintegrating CU Med Center location across the street. When Leigh Jones -- of Horseshoe Lounge and Jonesy's fame -- bought the place, she overhauled it. Completely. Now on Colorado Boulevard stands the Bar Car, a welcome addition to the East Denver scene. The dark, rustic interior -- with wisps of an old-timey railroad theme -- is surprising after stepping through the nondescript front. On a street known for chains, it's all defiantly 'hood-focused, from the well-curated draft list heavy on locals to its daily happy hour. The crowd follows suit, with a wide gamut stopping by after work to check the score of the game or for a late-night soaking up of the warm surroundings. Plus, what other bar boasts as a decoration a naked picture of Burt Reynolds? Read more about this Denver bar or club >>
http://www.barlouieamerica.com Long a staple in the Midwest, the Bar Louie chain has landed in Colorado. At the Shops at Northfield, Bar Louie is the perfect spot for a mid-shopping beer; it also makes a great holding pen for husbands waiting out a long run by their significant others. The menu features such bar standards as wings and burgers, but Bar Louie separates itself from other national behemoths by featuring an all-day brunch, a late-night kitchen and many deals throughout the week, especially on Sunday. With an indoor fire pit, flat screen tvs and the occasional live band, Bar Louie has something for everyone. Read more about this Denver bar or club >>

http://www.coclubs.com/venue/detail/bar-standard Once the home of Serengeti and Shelter, Bar Standard is an Art Deco-themed, modern-day speakeasy. While the name and look may have changed, the club, housed in the former Jonas Bros. Furs building, still brings in some of the area's best DJs -- who spin house and dance music -- as well as more high-profile national DJs. In addition, Bar Standard occasionally brings in live acts like the Cool Kids to perform on a decent-sized stage. The main area of the upscale club fills up quickly on the weekends, but there are two patios, both of which offer decent views of Denver's skyline, to escape the masses. http://www.barkerlounge.net A self-proclaimed "stray bar," the Barker Lounge attracts a wide array of patrons -- even if the disco balls hanging from the ceiling and the Madonna tunes blaring from the jukebox may suggest otherwise. The humble interior is clean and inviting, with a friendly staff. But the bar's best-kept secret -- and one that smokers will want to know -- is its patio: Shielded from busy Broadway by wooden fence, the deceivingly large wrap-around outdoor room is a cozy spot boasting plants, Christmas lights and a second bar to accommodate crowds in the summer months. http://www.barricudasdenver.com The main attractions at Barricuda's, a quintessential neighborhood bar, are the prices and the atmosphere, which is laid-back and friendly. The food is greasy-spoon and the menu is expansive for a bar; there are plenty of vegetarian options, and the Sunday brunch is popular and offers just the right type of breakfast spread for fighting a hangover. Plus, Barricuda's serves food late at night, making it a good place to stop for one last drink and some munchies. The clientele reflects the vibe: You won't find a lot of buttoned-down businessmen, club bunnies or frat boys, but you will find regular, neighborly folks enjoying the friendly staff, cheap drinks and typical bar jukebox that's set at just the right volume - loud enough to hear the music, but soft enough to enjoy a conversation with friends. Housed in the space formerly occupied by the Skylark Lounge, the comfortable seating and well-broken-in bar top do well to create a comfortable atmosphere. Barry's jukebox selection doesn't quite live up to the Skylark's famed rockabilly list, but this bar creates its own charm with a friendly staff and great food. Its dive-y feel, combined with a classy decor attracts an unpretentious local crowd. Read more about this Denver bar or club >>
http://www.thebeautybar.com While Denver's Beauty Bar has plenty of vintage kitsch from its other locations around the country, it also sports state-of-the-art, German-made KS Audio systems in the front and main rooms, each of which have their own DJ booth and bar. And in keeping with a tradition started at the original Beauty Bar in New York, the Denver location offers a Martinis and Manicures happy hour from 5 to 10 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, when $10 gets you a signature cocktail and a manicure from the in-house cosmetologist. http://www.bellyupaspen.com Since opening in 2005, the Belly Up has become Aspen's premier spot for live music. With a steady stream of national and world-renowned acts that usually play for thousands of people, the intimate venue, with a capacity of 450, offers a rare chance to see bands like Jane's Addiction, the Flaming Lips, Wu-Tang Clan, B.B. King, Chris Isaak and others up close. In addition, the Belly Up's layout offers a good view of the stage from just about any seat in the house. Read more about this Denver bar or club >>
http://www.benderswestminster.com Not to be confused with Bender's Tavern in Capitol Hill, Bender's Bar & Grill in Westminster is a completely different scene. While the word "bender" usually evokes some sort of vice-filled spree, the name of this place, which was formerly Jackson's All-American Sports Grill, refers more to folks who bend their ankles while ice skating. Fitting, since this hockey-themed sports bar overlooks the Ice Centre at the Promenade. It's the ideal spot to catch a hockey game on any of the numerous flat-screen TVs hanging throughout the spacious bar. While the grownups might come to watch the games, Bender's also has a number of arcade games for the kids. The kitchen serves a full menu that includes wings, steak, pasta, pizzas, burgers and sandwiches. Read more about this Denver bar or club >>
Since 1946, the Berkeley Inn has been slinging drinks to folks from 7 a.m. to 2 a.m. seven days a week. This classic neighborhood watering hole brings steady stream of locals and bikers alike. In 2009, new owners gave the interior a bit of a face lift and turned the spot into a nice dive bar as opposed to a neglected dive bar. Read more about this Denver bar or club >>
http://www.betanightclub.com It's not the state-of-the-art sound system, the primo location in LoDo or the crowds of beautiful people that make Beta Denver's best dance club (though none of that hurts). No, it's the high-caliber talent the place brings in week after week. Beta has hosted a cavalcade of talent that reads like a who's who of the world's top dance-music acts. http://www.blackcrownlounge.com After taking over the former Cafe Cero/Open Tap space, business partners Mark Cameron and Brian Grace transformed it into an authentic piano bar that has what Cameron describes as an old-world, over-the-top, decadent country-club feel. Furnished with a number of items from Grace's personal collection, including quite a few chandeliers, the Black Crown feels like you're walking into someone's home -- if that someone happened to be Cameron or Grace. Many of the decor items are for sale, and the space even functions as a retail store in the mornings. While the Black Crown has a large gay following, Cameron says they're not billing it as a gay bar, adding that the concept is great for anybody. Read more about this Denver bar or club >>
http://www.blacksheeprocks.com Soda Jerk Presents has a good handle on the all-ages market in Denver with the Marquis Theater and Summit Music Hall, and the company has a similar presence in Colorado Springs with the Black Sheep. Bringing in at least three or four shows a week, the 450-person venue is one of the main medium-sized live-music spots in the Springs, and it books local and nationally known punk, metal, rock and hip-hop acts.
