This 4 Mile House ain't exactly like its namesake, the historic park and prime destination for grade-school field trips that sits just a few miles down the road. Jack Casey's is a trip in itself: The carpetless, cavernous interior looks as though someone accidentally put a drinking spot inside an abandoned warehouse or airplane hangar. It is something of a "house," though, complete with a patio and stairs, and the staff is as welcoming as your mother, spooning out bowls of hearty homemade green and red chile to dudes watching Broncos and Nuggets games on Jack Casey's large televisions. It's just another place that makes Glendale one of the more unusual spots in the state and, quite possibly, the nation. Read more about this Denver bar or club >>
http://www.jacksonsdenver.com LoDo partiers looking to start a night strong will find their gateway to blackout at Jackson's, which features a $10 all-you-can-drink deal during its nighttime happy hour. Hordes of twenty-somethings and baseball-game-goers pack the bar and vast rooftop patio, putting down Coors Light, well vodka and Jim Beam with a vengeance while fist-pumping to the likes of Journey before heading out for more bar-hopping. It's conveniently located directly across the street from Coors Field, making it ground zero for Rockies pre-gaming and the perfect post-game place to celebrate - or commiserate - over a drink with friends. A small DJ booth is set up just inside the entryway and manned by a DJ playing everything from today's Top 40 hits to classic rock. With a spacious ground-level patio complete with an AstroTurf floor, the stadium atmosphere is unmistakable. Read more about this Denver bar or club >>
http://www.jakesdenver.com There's not really a Jake behind Jake's Food & Spirits. This neighborhood joint's name was actually inspired by the abstract notion of a guy, maybe a Jake, who everyone knows and likes. Open for lunch, dinner and late-night dining, Jake's comes alive at night; the place usually has some sort of entertainment happening most nights of the week, whether it be comedy, karaoke, trivia, live music or DJs. A mile and a half from Coors Field in the RiNo Arts District, Jake's feels like an oasis of cool that's far enough away from LoDo to feel disconnected from downtown. http://www.jakesroadhouse.com There's no mistaking that Jake's Roadhouse is biker-friendly, and the emphasis here is on the "friendly." Sure, you're bound to see a fair amount of black leather vests on any given day, especially the weekends, but the bikers come to have a good time and to take advantage of the Roadhouse's massive patio, which has its own beer garden. This Arvada spot is also a great place to catch live music, as it brings in rock and blues bands Friday through Sunday. Jake's also sports a full kitchen that serves a variety of cheese steaks, as well as burgers, sandwiches and wings. Read more about this Denver bar or club >>
http://www.jazzatjacks.com Since Jazz@Jack's is co-owned and operated by the cats in the contemporary jazz band Dotsero, they bring in like-minded bands, as well as funk, blues and R&B acts every night of the week. Folks who dig their jazz a bit on the light side, will most like feel right at home this spot on the third floor of the Denver Pavilions. Read more about this Denver bar or club >>
http://www.jdsbaitshop.com If you prefer to enjoy your game-time beers surrounded by aquariums and high-definition televisions, or if you're looking for a spot to enjoy pre-concert drinks before heading to Comfort Dental Amphitheatre, JD's Bait Shop has got you covered. As the name suggests, it's not exactly a high-brow place: The atmosphere is semi-divey, the menu features mostly fried food, and the abundance of games here, from shuffleboard to darts to foosball, will keep those who aren't held glued to the televisions occupied. There's no pretension at JD's, and when you visit, you'll get exactly what's advertised: a comfortable place to hang out and get wrapped up in whatever sports are in season while enjoying the atmosphere of like-minded sports-and-beer lovers. On the edge of a residential neighborhood and just a stone's throw from I-70, the bar known as JD's for the past few years has existed as a neighborhood drinking spot for the better part of three decades. The place is clean, bright and certainly friendly: Patrons are offered a free paper tray of popcorn upon entering -- once they've been properly ID'ed, of course. The bar also serves up nachos, hot dogs and pizza to go with its cocktails and domestic drafts. The wide-open, green-carpeted room hosts karaoke and Texas Hold 'Em tournaments throughout the week, while a live DJ brings the music and flashing lights on Fridays and Saturdays. A huge side patio, open year-round for smokers, is where regulars can be found when they aren't staking their claim at the bar top. Read more about this Denver bar or club >>
Located in downtown Brighton, Jerry’s Bar & Grill is a friendly neighborhood joint that welcomes everyone. A no-frills bar, Jerry’s attracts a fair amount of locals, who come in for the happy hours or a late-night bite, as the kitchen serves food until closing time. The menu includes standard bar fare as well as Mexican dishes such as posole and menudo. Jerry’s, which is done up in vintage decor that includes license plates from all fifty states, also brings in live bands and DJs from time to time. Read more about this Denver bar or club >>
http://www.thejethotel.com During the day, it doubles as the lobby of the Jet Hotel in LoDo, but once it gets dark, the Jet Lounge transforms into a hip nightlife spot. On weekends, when DJs spin dance music, the stylish lounge fills up quickly, with lines out the door; there's much more of chilled-out vibe during the week. With its subdued lighting, cozy couches and VIP bottle service, the Jet Lounge attracts a younger, trendy crowd and occasional local and national celebrities. It's easily one of the best spots in LoDo to people-watch, and a talented staff of bartenders can whip up an assortment of signature cocktails. Read more about this Denver bar or club >>
A Thornton staple for over two decades, Joe Palooka's has all the trappings of a good neighborhood bar: cordial waitstaff, reasonably priced drafts, a clean spot to rest your elbows, and plenty of TVs for game-watching. The strip mall-situated hangout looks small from the outside but opens up once you're inside with plenty of seating. Whether you're at a high-top table with a pitcher or bellied up to the giant horseshoe bar with a pint, the bartenders are always friendly and attentive. Mostly a drinking and pool-playing spot, Palooka's keeps the bar food to a minimum, with daily happy hours serving up free popcorn and hot dogs straight from the rotary cooker. The tin roof-lined interior is dimly lit, and patrons looking to grab a smoke can do so on the bar's small front patio. Read more about this Denver bar or club >>
http://www.johnnyscigars.com This is a cozy spot tucked inside One Boulder Plaza, with five humidors stocked full of cigars near the door and a smoking room in the back that sports a few overstuffed leather chairs and a TV. There's also a baby grand piano and a small PA system for live music, mostly jazz and blues, Thursdays through Saturdays. Read more about this Denver bar or club >>
http://www.jeatbar.com What's the quickest way to win diners over? Serve them a gigantic bowl of perfectly cooked French fries drenched in a macaroni-and-cheese-based bechamel and detailed with chives and chunks of bacon, a dish that will instantly shoot straight to the top of anyone's guilty-favorites list. From there, Jonesy's menu goes off in some unusual directions, but the food is generally strong, the room very neighborhood-y and the vibe far cooler than any self-proclaimed "gastropub" has a right to display. Jonesy's also books private parties in the main dining area and more intimate gatherings in the wine cellar for up to sixteen people. Read more about this Denver bar or club >>
http://www.jordansbistroandpub.com Although Jordan's is modeled after an Irish pub, it bills itself as a pub with gourmet tastes -- and the menu ranges far from the Emerald Isle. The appetizer list includes chicken wings, fried calamari, steamed mussels and pan-seared Brie; entrees run from fish tacos and Reubens to steak, ribs and pizza (white, margherita, even a caramelized-pear version). But the traditional dishes might be the favorites: Jordan's serves cod-filet fish and chips, the Dubliner (an Irish take on the cheesesteak) and an Irish breakfast (eggs, bangers, rashers, both black and white pudding and more) available all day. Weekend brunch is popular, too, when offerings include banana-bread French toast, breakfast burritos and the corned beef S.O.B., which features sauteed onions, eggs and a white-wine cream sauce over marbled rye. Customers range from college students to business types stopping in for a drink and a bite on their way home - but plenty of people wind up ending the evening in this very friendly neighborhood spot. http://www.jordinellis.com The neon sign in front of Jordinelli's evokes an era of classic dives from the '30s and '40s, which isn’t surprising since the spot was established in 1934. But inside, this Brighton bar is something of an updated take on the classic dive. Since there are morning and evening happy hours (9 to 11 a.m. and 4 to 7 p.m.) Monday through Friday, it's one of the more popular bars in Brighton, especially on the weekends, when there are either DJs or live bands. While a lot of regulars come here for a decent selection of pizzas, Jordinelli's also serves burgers and an assortment of appetizers including wings, poppers and Rocky Mountain oysters. While this Federal Heights strip-mall spot has been a few sports bars and neighborhood hangouts over the years, a lot of changes were made when Jugg’z Saloon moved in. For one, it’s now a music venue, with local rock, hard rock and metal acts coming in every weekend. There's karaoke during the week, or you can try out a table or two in the new pool room. Another thing you can count on at Jugg'z is cheap drinks. Read more about this Denver bar or club >>
