Bannock Street Garage

Bannock Street Garage

The Bannock Street Garage didn't pull its name out of thin air: For years, it was a Volkswagen repair shop. That is, until 2004, when it was refit as a bar as divey as anything you'd care to find in the metro area.
Goosetown Tavern

Located across from the Bluebird Theater, the Goosetown Tavern draws beer drinkers, pool players and music fans from the East Colfax corridor and beyond.
Williams & Graham

Williams & Graham

The focus is the big wooden bar, which has a drink menu featuring vignettes, anecdotes and profiles of spirits written by prolific bartenders from around the country, as well as a roster of simple, elegant cocktails.

  • Copper Rail

    Copper Rail

    174 S. Main St. Brighton, CO 80601
    303-655-9933

http://www.copperrail.com Touting itself as "Brighton's best family-owned sports bar," the Copper Rail lives up to that billing with twenty hi-def big screens, as well as a 135-inch projection screen. But while there are plenty of spots to catch televised games in the bar, the Rail also sports a few pool tables, skee-ball, arcade games and kid-friendly games. With its exposed brick walls and slick furnishings, the Copper Rail is a few notches above Mojo's, which formerly inhabited the space. It has 24 beers on tap and serves everything from wings and nachos to burgers, salads and sandwiches, as well as a kids' menu. Read more about Copper Rail >>

  • Jordinelli

    Jordinelli's Sports Bar & Restaurant

    25 N. Main St. Brighton, CO 80601
    303-659-1055

http://www.jordinellis.com The neon sign in front of Jordinelli's evokes an era of classic dives from the '30s and '40s, which isn’t surprising since the spot was established in 1934. But inside, this Brighton bar is something of an updated take on the classic dive. Since there are morning and evening happy hours (9 to 11 a.m. and 4 to 7 p.m.) Monday through Friday, it's one of the more popular bars in Brighton, especially on the weekends, when there are either DJs or live bands. While a lot of regulars come here for a decent selection of pizzas, Jordinelli's also serves burgers and an assortment of appetizers including wings, poppers and Rocky Mountain oysters. • Long Shots Bar and Grill

    Long Shots Bar and Grill

4400 Ward Road Wheat Ridge, CO 80033
    303-403-0227

http://www.longshotsbar.com Denver has its share of neighborhood sports bars, but you'd be hard pressed to find any that serve Vietnamese food as good as Long Shots Bar & Grill in Wheat Ridge. Eating noodle bowls or spring rolls in a dive bar might sound like a bizarre juxtaposition, but somehow it works. But if you want to bypass the Vietnamese food, the place also serves American grub like burgers and wings. With a few TVs, including a large screen, it's not a bad place to catch a game, and the drinks are fairly priced. Read more about Long Shots Bar and Grill >>

  • Scotty

    Scotty's Side Door Saloon

    12100 W. 44th Ave. Wheat Ridge, CO 80033
    303-940-3451

While Scotty's Side Door Saloon Lounge, located inside the Howard Johnson's hotel in Wheat Ridge, seems fairly nondescript from the outside, it's quite the spacious joint inside. There are pool tables and a decent-sized dance floor to accommodate folks there for the live music on the weekends. During the week, the place attracts a steady stream of regulars for beer pong, poker, karaoke or to watch games. With its wood paneling and old-school wooden stools, the place feels like a big version of a late-'70s basement you might have had as a kid. Read more about Scotty's Side Door Saloon >>
