Cheeky Monk

Cheeky Monk

Not only is the Cheeky Monk a destination for all you European beer snobs looking for unpronounceable brews made by monks, but it also happens to be a great place to sample the rather unique cuisine of the Benelux.
Historians Ale House

Historians Ale House

The long bar at Historians Ale House is reminiscent of something you would find in Boston or Chicago, with its never-ending line of taps surrounded by warm brick walls and sky-high ceilings.
Scruffy Murphy's

Scruffy Murphy's

This neighborhood pub offers a warm, inviting old world setting to have a beer or check out the occasional live act -- traditional Celtic and Irish folk music to acoustic rock -- and hang out with the locals.

  • Old Chicago

    Old Chicago

8711 Wadsworth Blvd. Arvada, CO 80003
    303-431-7707

http://www.oldchicago.com In this day and age, Old Chicago locations are common enough across the country that many diners have forgotten this chain's humble beginnings: It got its start not in Chicago -- or anywhere else in Illinois, for that matter -- but in Boulder, in 1976. Old Chicago is part of the Rock Bottom line of restaurants, and beer features heavily on the menu; the bar has 110 kinds available at any given time. The pizza is another draw, served Chicago-style, original or thin crust, with signature toppings and build-your-own options. The rest of the menu is about what you'd expect from a pizza-heavy, beer-centric venue: burgers, pasta, calzones, starters and salads. But for dessert, you can't miss with the renowned Big Cookie. • Olde Town Tavern & Grill

    Olde Town Tavern & Grill

7355 Ralston Road Arvada, CO 80002
    303-467-1472

http://www.oldetowntavernandgrill.com Olde Town Tavern's slogan, "Real Food, Authentic People, Genuine Fun," pretty much sums up the no-frills Olde Town Arvada watering hole. The spot attracts a wide variety of regulars, ranging from the college set to octogenarians, depending on the day. And while it's always a decent spot to catch a game on one of its many TVs, the bar livens up quite a bit on the weekends, with live music on Fridays and karaoke on Saturdays. The standard pub-grub menu includes a number of appetizer options, soups and salads, sandwiches, Mexican, pizza and burgers. Read more about this Denver bar or club >>

  • Ralston Lounge

    Ralston Lounge

6420 Ward Road Arvada, CO 80004
    303-423-2828

Tucked away in a strip mall off 64th Avenue and Ward Road, the Ralston Lounge has been a longtime Arvada fixture. The no-frills neighborhood joint attracts a fair number of easygoing regulars to its early-morning happy hours, and with its nondescript furnishings, it feels like not a whole lot has changed here in the last few decades, which is a big part of the Ralston's charm. Entertainment options include a jukebox, a few pool tables and pinball machines, and there's a small dance floor and a tiny stage that hosts karaoke on the weekends. The lounge doesn't have a full menu, but if you ask nicely, they'll heat up a frozen pizza for you. Read more about this Denver bar or club >>

  • Rear Inn Lounge

    Rear Inn Lounge

    4991 W. 80th Ave. Westminster, CO 80030
    303-426-4500

If you're itching to sound off, the best karaoke nights in town are at a spot hidden away on a Westminster building's backside (thus the moniker, we presume). But with its elevated stage, overhead screen displaying the words from your choice of thousands of songs, and an enthusiastic audience of friendly, easygoing neighborhood regulars, the Rear Inn is way ahead of the rest of the karaoke pack. And since not everybody knows about this every-night-of-the-week karaoke night (yet!), you'll have plenty of opportunity to play the rock star that we know you are. • Rock-A-Billies

    Rock-A-Billies

    12363 W. 64th Ave. Arvada, CO 80004
    303-421-1799

http://www.rockabilliesbar.com With checkered floors, an Elvis jukebox, a wall-sized Johnny Cash mural, and framed black-and-white photos of Hank Williams, Elvis and '50s hot rods hanging on the other walls, Rock-A-Billies is obviously geared toward folks who love rockabilly culture. Housed in the former Cucina Roma Roma restaurant spot in a strip mall at 64th Avenue and Ward Road, Rock-A-Billies is one of the few live-music venues in the area, bringing in rockabilly, blues and rock bands on Fridays and Saturdays. It also boasts a full kitchen that serves burgers, sandwiches, barbecue and steaks. Read more about this Denver bar or club >>

  • Stardust Lounge

    Stardust Lounge

5205 Marshall St. Arvada, CO 80002
    303-424-9987

While it might sound like it belongs in Vegas, the Stardust Lounge is a nondescript joint that you could easily drive by, but it's quite cozy on the inside. Something of an Arvada institution for more than three decades, the Stardust has just about everything a person could want in a decent night of imbibing, including cheap drinks, pool tables, plenty of seating at the bar and quite a few vinyl booths to stretch out in. While it's a decent place to check out a game, it's also a popular spot for karaoke and live music on the weekends. Read more about this Denver bar or club >>

10480 Ralston Road Arvada, CO 80004
    303-997-8753

http://www.taunaztavern.com After the Sports Barn closed, Taunaz Tavern moved into the Arvada space in late 2012. While it’s still a lively neighborhood spot for catching a game, Taunaz brings in live music and trivia on the weekends and hosts karaoke nights and pool leagues during the week. The tavern serves reasonably priced drinks, especially during daily happy hours, which run from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the weekends. The menu includes salads, sandwiches, quesadillas and pizza. Read more about this Denver bar or club >>

  • Ultra Sheer Nightclub

    Ultra Sheer Nightclub

10633 Westminster Blvd. Westminster, CO 80031
    303-464-1171

http://www.ultrasheernightclub.com The Que Bueno Mexican restaurant in the Westminster Promenade shopping center dramatically transforms around 10 p.m. on Friday night into Ultra Sheer Nightclub. Long stretches of sheer cloth cover the windows, a DJ takes up a central post at the back, and an elaborate laser light show begins. Two nights out of the week, the spacious restaurant morphs into an after-hours dance hall that draws crowds of up to 350 party-goers on a typical Friday or Saturday night. The staff pulls off the transition fairly seamlessly; the space's airy dining room and open dance floor seem tailored for the late-night dance sessions. The music is a mix of commercial fare from radio promoter 95.7 The Party and the Sheer DJs tailored brand of house. There's no cover to get in, but the club features a VIP section upstairs to rent for about $250, as well as reserved spaces at tables along the wall available for a one-bottle fee. • Yak and Yeti

    Yak and Yeti

7803 Ralston Road Arvada, CO 80002
    303-431-9000

http://www.theyakandyeti.com Yak and Yeti has been serving up authentic Indian fare -- and a few traditional Nepalese dishes -- since 2002. The second Yak & Yeti location, in Arvada, is our favorite, since owner Dol Bhattarai bought an old farmhouse full of brewing equipment, which allowed him to add a line of Indian-inspired craft beers (including the award-winning Chai Stout) to his bar list at both restaurants. And he not only got a brewery -- he got a ghost, too, which allegedly haunts the place. Regardless of what you believe about the elusive beyond, there's no denying that this restaurant is saturated with the history of the family that once owned it. In these spooky digs, Yak and Yeti serves up a psirited culinary mix during buffet lunch or served dinner. Read more about this Denver bar or club >>
