While it might sound like it belongs in Vegas, the Stardust Lounge is a nondescript joint that you could easily drive by, but it's quite cozy on the inside. Something of an Arvada institution for more than three decades, the Stardust has just about everything a person could want in a decent night of imbibing, including cheap drinks, pool tables, plenty of seating at the bar and quite a few vinyl booths to stretch out in. While it's a decent place to check out a game, it's also a popular spot for karaoke and live music on the weekends. Read more about this Denver bar or club >>
http://www.ultrasheernightclub.com The Que Bueno Mexican restaurant in the Westminster Promenade shopping center dramatically transforms around 10 p.m. on Friday night into Ultra Sheer Nightclub. Long stretches of sheer cloth cover the windows, a DJ takes up a central post at the back, and an elaborate laser light show begins. Two nights out of the week, the spacious restaurant morphs into an after-hours dance hall that draws crowds of up to 350 party-goers on a typical Friday or Saturday night. The staff pulls off the transition fairly seamlessly; the space's airy dining room and open dance floor seem tailored for the late-night dance sessions. The music is a mix of commercial fare from radio promoter 95.7 The Party and the Sheer DJ's tailored brand of house. There's no cover to get in, but the club features a VIP section upstairs to rent for about $250, as well as reserved spaces at tables along the wall available for a one-bottle fee. http://www.witsendcomedyclub.com Wits End Comedy Club lacks the pedigree of its local competitors; performers are more likely to be familiar from the grocery-store line than from HBO, and the lineup is hit or miss. But it still presents some quality standup comedy without the hassle of downtown parking and high ticket prices. Read more about this Denver bar or club >>
http://www.theyakandyeti.com Yak and Yeti has been serving up authentic Indian fare -- and a few traditional Nepalese dishes -- since 2002. The second Yak & Yeti location, in Arvada, is our favorite, since owner Dol Bhattarai bought an old farmhouse full of brewing equipment, which allowed him to add a line of Indian-inspired craft beers (including the award-winning Chai Stout) to his bar list at both restaurants. And he not only got a brewery -- he got a ghost, too, which allegedly haunts the place. Regardless of what you believe about the elusive beyond, there's no denying that this restaurant is saturated with the history of the family that once owned it. In these spooky digs, Yak and Yeti serves up a psirited culinary mix during buffet lunch or served dinner. Read more about this Denver bar or club >>
