http://www.oldchicago.com In this day and age, Old Chicago locations are common enough across the country that many diners have forgotten this chain's humble beginnings: It got its start not in Chicago -- or anywhere else in Illinois, for that matter -- but in Boulder, in 1976. Old Chicago is part of the Rock Bottom line of restaurants, and beer features heavily on the menu; the bar has 110 kinds available at any given time. The pizza is another draw, served Chicago-style, original or thin crust, with signature toppings and build-your-own options. The rest of the menu is about what you'd expect from a pizza-heavy, beer-centric venue: burgers, pasta, calzones, starters and salads. But for dessert, you can't miss with the renowned Big Cookie. http://www.therobustoroom.com When you think of a cigar lounge, you imagine leather, dark wood and all things masculine. You'll find all that at the Robusto Room, but in a way that creates an atmosphere more reminiscent of a cozy library in an old movie. It boasts an extensive wine list and DJs spin Tuesdays through Saturdays, coaxing the patrons (mainly professional types) to sidle onto the dance floor. Read more about this Denver bar or club >>
http://www.slatteryspublichouse.net After opening the Irish Snug on East Colfax and McLoughlin’s near LoDo, the McLoughlin brothers opened Slattery’s in the Landmark development in Greenwood Village. The guys clearly know a thing or two about running an Irish pub, and Slattery’s was designed as a public house that one might find on the streets of Dublin’s City Center. With its woodwork and stained glass, the place has a bit of an old-world vibe while still feeling modern. Slattery's serves a number of imported, domestic and local brews, and the menu features traditional Irish fare along with sandwiches and burgers. Read more about this Denver bar or club >>
http://www.swingersgolflounge.com Although golf is a big sport in Colorado, there are few opportunities to play in the dead of winter. The bar, which is next to the Robusto Room, has state-of-the-art golf simulators that allow you to play eighteen holes in under an hour -- on one of more than fifty championship golf courses. http://www.tgifridays.com/index.htm Nearly sixty years after the first T.G.I. Friday's opened in New York City, this venerable chain of almost 500 locations is still working the "singles" concept, advertising itself as a low-key meeting spot for men and women on the prowl, and emphasizing its drinks menu more than most chain restaurants. Many modern diners may not realize that Friday's earned its reputation as a swinger's paradise; according to a 1973 story in Newsweek, it was founded by an unmarried perfume salesman who figured that opening a restaurant with "Tiffany lamps and mod waiters" would be a good way to meet the stewardesses who lived in his neighborhood. Whether his quest was successful is unclear; either way, Friday's is today better known for inventing menu items such as the Pizzadilla—a signature creation that's equal parts Italian pizza and Mexican quesadilla. Denver / Boulder diners, and pretty much everyone else in the country, also know all about Friday's baby back ribs, thanks to an aggressive and alliterative ad campaign that ran for years. Find your local T.G.I. Friday's on Voice Places. Read more about this Denver bar or club >>
http://www.tailgatetavern.com During a stint at the University of Buffalo in New York in the '80s, Marina Alter frequented a pub that was a bit like the one in Cheers, where everyone knew each other, and she hoped to use the same concept here some day. After finding out that the Tailgate Tavern was up for sale, she jumped at the opportunity, moved to Parker and took the place over in late 2008. And the Tailgate indeed has a bit of a Cheers vibe, which helps explain why the bar attracts so many folks from all lines of work and backgrounds. While it's a fine place to check out a game, as its name suggests, the Tailgate also brings in live rock bands on the weekends, and the menu includes breakfast, burgers, steaks, seafood and sandwiches. http://www.takodatavern.com While the Takoda Tavern attracts its share of bikers and has a weekly bike night, it's more of a sports bar than a biker bar. A far cry from a roadhouse, the spot, which opened in 2009, the fairly upscale spot is a neighborhood tavern that brings a diverse set of Parker locals, some of which bring their families, or who come to down to catch a game on one of its many flat screen TVs. On the weekends, the Takota has live rock bands inside year-round as well on its patio during summer months. The menu includes quite a few different burgers, sandwiches, pizza and appetizers.
