  • One World Cafe

28275 Colorado 74 Evergreen, CO 80439 One World Cafe isn't your typical Evergreen eatery: Stashed above street level at the end of the main drag, it houses only a handful of tables. But the food and the view from the big windows are worth the trip up the hill (and up the stairs). Inside, you'll find strings of lights hanging from the walls alongside drawings created by kid patrons, and each tabletop is covered with a different impressionist painting to color your meal. The eatery serves a fairly standard American menu, with an emphasis on fresh and organic produce; there are additional brunch options on the weekends, and the beer and cocktail lists are very robust for such a small venue. Although One World fills up quickly during peak hours, the place is so relaxed that you won’t be rushed out the door the second you’ve cleaned your plate. More >>

  • Starbucks

    3100 S. Sheridan Denver, CO 80227
303-937-4400 Since its founding by a trio of aspiring coffee roasters in Seattle in 1971, Starbucks has grown to become the largest coffeehouse in the world, with upwards of 20,000 locations in Denver / Boulder and around the world. Named for the chief mate on the whaling ship from Moby Dick, the company didn't begin chasing the Great White Whale of world java domination until the 1990s, by which time it was opening a new store every day. A turbulent economy has since forced it to retrench, but the chain remains a powerhouse both commercially and politically, thanks to its op-ed-penning chairman, Howard Schultz. A purveyor of whole foods, Starbucks typically farms out its secret recipes to a single, Starbucks-owned bakery in each city, and now sells a good deal of its coffee beans at grocery stores.
