Tea Pot Lounge

Tea Pot Lounge

I looked at about a dozen different flowers, including a beautifully frosty and sweet Black Ice OG, some decent Super Silver Haze and the same Super Silver Haze/OG cross dubbed Kizzle that the Cannasseur developed.

Some cuts looked better than others, like the NYC Diesel and the Berry Skunk, but most looked well-dried and cured -- healthy buds from a medium-sized warehouse.
Top Shelf Alternatives

Top Shelf Alternatives

Top Shelf Alternatives also had two special strains, Blacktooth Grin and Lavender, at $15 per gram all the way up. I got a good look at both, and neither seemed to be of any better quality than the rest of the items on the shelf.

  • DANK

3835 Elm St. Denver, CO 80207
303-394-3265 DANK sits in a low brick building tucked away in an industrial area of north Park Hill. There are no huge, obnoxious signs out front, so visiting the place is a discreet endeavor. The shop comprises two parts recreational and medical -- and the garden is situated in the warehouse behind them. When shopping for buds, you can get a glimpse of the occasional worker shuffling back and sending rays of glowing orange light into the room. The crew has cleaned the place up and styled it with raw, graying wood trimwork, and there's a bud bar set up. There are typically about a dozen strains on the shelf, and most are very well grown. For the medical user, DANK is certainly worth giving a chance. Members get 10 percent off pricing and specials through the week. On the recreational side, though, you're going to be paying a lot more. Read our full dispensary review of DANK. More >>

  • Denver Kush Club

    Denver Kush Club

2615 Welton St. Denver, CO 80205
303-736-6550 Denver Kush Club has transitioned from stoner den with a thrown-together lounge and dispensary to a slick storefront with memorable herb since it first opened. Stacks of Denver Kush Club shirts and hoodies are displayed in the middle of the room, and a glass pyramid of assorted custom baseball caps and Air Jordan sneakers are highlighted in a glass pyramid along the back wall. Jazzy beats thump through the lobby and bud bar in the back. While the artwork at most dispensaries is something to overlook, the awesome urban art on the walls here is worth checking out. The red walls are decked out with paintings and murals from Denver artist Michael Ortiz, who blends amazing abstract color work with Colorado-themed stencils and tag writing. It's probably not a place for your hip-hop-hating dad with a red card, but it feels perfectly at home in the heart of a diverse neighborhood populated by everyone from black families who have been in the area for generations to hippies and, lately, twenty-something hipsters and musicians. In the back bud room, herb is divided between two glass counters, with a cash register in the middle to separate things. A small Plexiglas display case full of concentrates was on top of the counter as well, easing the selection process. Read our full dispensary review of Denver Kush Club. More >>

  • Denver Relief

    Denver Relief

    1 Broadway Denver, CO 80203
303-420-6337 Situated at 1 Broadway, Denver Relief sits right at the edge of the strip of Broadway bars -- making it a good spot for anyone looking to pick up on their way home. The waiting room has a couple of big, comfortable couches, framed pictures of some house strains and plenty of cannabis literature for anyone looking to learn about the plant while waiting to be called. The bud bar is made up of single-person booths similar to those at a bank, with leaflets on state marijuana laws available. Denver Relief has three tiers of strains, all of which depend on availability. The shop is one of the few dispensaries that doesn't sell pre-weighed buds and accepts credit and debit cards. Denver Relief is also a founding member of the National Cannabis Industry Association. Read our full dispensary review of Denver Relief. More >>

  • Doctors Orders

    Doctors Orders

    1406 W. 38th Ave. Denver, CO 80221
303-433-0276 As pot connoisseurs in states with legalized marijuana know, must-have boutique strains seem to come from nowhere and suddenly flood the market (remember the Girl Scout Cookie craze in late 2013/early 2014?). Some dispensaries respond to such evident popularity by pulling the strain in their shop that most resembles the flavor of the month and labeling it accordingly -- if incorrectly. That's not something you'll see at Doctors Orders. The Girl Scout Cookie is really, truly Girl Scout Cookie here. So is the Strawberry Cough, Bruce Banner or whatever other sought-after strain you're looking at. This is also a shop that takes advantage of technology: Visit the website to get discounts and deals from Doctors Orders delivered daily to your phone -- or to play a video game that's custom-made for the dispensary.
