Tea Pot Lounge

Tea Pot Lounge

I looked at about a dozen different flowers, including a beautifully frosty and sweet Black Ice OG, some decent Super Silver Haze and the same Super Silver Haze/OG cross dubbed Kizzle that the Cannasseur developed.
Groundswell

Groundswell

Some cuts looked better than others, like the NYC Diesel and the Berry Skunk, but most looked well-dried and cured -- healthy buds from a medium-sized warehouse.
Top Shelf Alternatives

Top Shelf Alternatives

Top Shelf Alternatives also had two special strains, Blacktooth Grin and Lavender, at $15 per gram all the way up. I got a good look at both, and neither seemed to be of any better quality than the rest of the items on the shelf.

  • Metro Cannabis

    Metro Cannabis

    8151 E. Colfax Ave. Denver, CO 80220
    720-771-9866

http://metrocannabis.org Metro Cannabis isn't really known for much. It's generally seen by patients as a warehouse shop with warehouse-quality buds and little to offer someone who wants true variety and well-grown herb. It's a low-rent shop set up along a rough stretch of Colfax that relies on walk-in traffic from the neighborhood. Still, none of that seems to matter: People line up inside to buy what Metro Cannabis has to sell anyway. The shop is dual-use and the bud bars aren't separated, which means that patients under 21 are going to have to go elsewhere. But that doesn't appear to be affecting business. The staff is friendly enough, but recreational prices are notably high, with eighth prices as much as $20 more than on the medical side of things -- and that's not including state tax. No brick weed, but then again, not much worth remembering at Metro Cannabis unless you're from out of state. Read our full dispensary review of Metro Cannabis. More >>

  • Metropolis Medical and Recreational Cannabis

    Metropolis Medical and Recreational Cannabis

4600 Ironton St. Denver, CO 80239
    303-373-9333

http://metropolismmc.com Situated in a complex of workshops and warehouses, Metropolis occupies a generic old office building with ample parking. They've converted the office break room into the shop's waiting room, with a flat-screen TV and several comfortable seats. Looney Tunes cartoons play on a loop -- so don't show up high, or you might never leave. There's a separate bud room for retail and medical, and each one holds all the products expected at a respectable dispensary. Staff members say they get most of their business from out-of-towners leaving the airport, but they're still very friendly and informative, even if you might not be a returning customer. Metropolis Medical typically has around a dozen strains on display and offers daily specials. It currently accepts cash only, but there is an ATM on site. • Mile High Dispensary

    Mile High Dispensary

    1350 S. Sheridan Blvd. Denver, CO 80232
    303-934-6337

The Cheech and Chong stickers on the windows of the former head shop next door are actually the most pot-related thing about the atmosphere at Mile High Dispensary. Otherwise, the simple, dark-green sign with two green crosses is about as low-key as dispensaries get these days. Inside, the waiting room is clean, and except for the inlaid-tile marijuana leaf in the floor, the shop has a generic casual-commercial feel like that of a real-estate agency, a dental office or an acupuncture clinic. Mile High Dispensary's space is tiny, and the bud bar itself is actually a small nook in the back of the lobby. The setup is slightly antiquated, with the patient seating area directly in front of a glassed-off budtender room. A small countertop rack with fist-sized glass sample jars sits on the other side of the glass, and patients have to ask to have each jar passed through a small cutout at the bottom of the partition window. Strains are mostly average dispensary offerings; everything seems to be grown well enough. Read our full dispensary review of Mile High Dispensary. More >>

http://mhmcdenver.com Mile High Medical and Recreational Cannabis has gained some notoriety for being the closest legal weed shop to Invesco Field at Mile High, where the beloved Denver Broncos play, and it's true: You can throw a wobbly duck pass from the back door of the dispensary and hit tailgaters. The sign on the front of the shop directs recreational customers to the alley entrance; the shop lobby includes a ratty, well-worn couch and a massive fish tank that takes up the south side of the room. The receptionist is behind a huge metal-and-glass cage, like a payday-loans teller. The shop clearly can grow some plump, crystal-coated buds, and there's no arguing that the jars filled with various chunky strains are all impressive. Fans of concentrates will appreciate the shop's strain-specific shatter and wax selection, which it offers alongside "medley mixture" concentrates that contain sativa, indica or both. MMJ America

2042 Arapahoe St. Denver, CO 80205
    720-242-9308

http://mmjamerica.com The LoDo branch of MMJ America is one of three dispensaries in the MMJ America chain; the shop managed to snag a spacious venue at 20th and Arapahoe that shares a wall with Mile High Pipe and Tobacco, making this an ideal onestop shop if you need to pick up product and something to smoke it with. There are parking lots all around the building, including reserved parking for MMJ America clientele, and this location has proven extremely popular among tourists sampling the marijuana scene in Denver. There typically isn't a huge selection of strains available; a handful of sativas, a handful of indicas and a handful of hybrids make up the flower menu. But MMJ America also carries plenty of edibles, and a smattering of concentrates, too. More >>

http://nativeroots303.com Right on the 16th Street Mall, the lobby at Native Roots easily qualifies as the fanciest at any dispensary, even if it technically doesn't belong to the shop. To reach the dispensary, ride the brass-adorned elevator up to the eighth floor, then step out into the marble foyer and around the corner to buzz the waiting-room doorbell. With light-wood floors, tea-green paint, leather chairs and marble counter-tops, Native Roots exudes a classic and comfortable atmosphere. The bud bar is in the back corner of the store, and inside two glass cases, you'll find an impressive selection of cannabis goodies. A restaurant-style folding menu sits on the counter-top, with bud descriptions that are updated weekly. The staff includes a take-home version of that menu in the bag with your purchase. More >>
