  • 1STBANK Center

    1STBANK Center

11450 Broomfield Lane Broomfield, CO 80020
    303-410-0700

http://www.1stbankcenter.com Connoisseurs of live music will tell you that something is lost when an artist becomes popular enough to perform in an arena. While this may be true at some places, it's certainly not the case at Broomfield's 1STBANK Center, where the sound is pretty well dialed in virtually anywhere you sit. The venue, which sits halfway between Denver and Boulder, has hosted a variety of acts, from Radiohead and Portishead to Kelly Clarkson and the Black Keys. Shows of this caliber feel far more intimate here than you'd expect. More >>

  • Babe's Nightclub

    2265 W. 84th Ave. Denver, CO 80260
    303-426-7727

http://www.babesnightclub.com A Colorado club mainstay, Babe's Nightclub (previously House of Babes) has been bringing the white- and blue-collar crowds together at its bar top for over two decades. The family-owned spot for day drinkers and game watchers turns into a full-fledged nightclub on the weekends, playing reggaeton, rap and Top 40 to a packed dance floor. The bar offers a standard decor of mirrors and promotional liquor signage, a smoker-friendly patio and plenty of room to dance or play pool. House of Babes remains a metro-area favorite, a no-cover outpost for drinking and dancing born long before LoDo was christened the glittery epicenter of local nightlife. More >>

  • D Note

    D Note

7519 Grandview Ave. Arvada, CO 80002
    303-463-6683

http://www.thednote.com The D Note celebrated its tenth anniversary and a change of ownership in 2012, but this live-music venue and full-service restaurant and bar in Olde Town Arvada is still a favorite local hangout and a tourist attraction for out-of-town visitors. Originally envisioned as a performance space/art gallery, it was expanded to include hot eats and became a hub for local musicians and music enthusiasts. The menu items have some famous names, like the Sinatra salad, the Zappa sandwich and the Penny Lane pasta, and since live-music patrons get hungry too, D Note’s signature pizzas are another edible tribute, with names like Me & Bobby McGee, The Pizza Formerly Known as Prince, and Particle Man. The Hall and Oats dessert plate would make a nice ending to any meal, accompanied by some fine tunes in the D Note's laid-back atmosphere. More >>

  • FlatIron Crossing

    FlatIron Crossing

    1 W. FlatIron Circle Broomfield, CO 80021
    720-887-7467

http://www.flatironcrossing.com One of the nicest things about FlatIron Crossing, the shopping mecca that put Broomfield on the mall map, is the indoor/outdoor setup -- because there are some days in Colorado when you desperately need some retail therapy but just can’t bear the thought of walling yourself entirely away from the sunshine for the day. The outdoor plaza offers 50,000 square feet of retail space, and the adjacent indoor mall has almost 1.5 million square feet, so there’s plenty to peruse wherever the weather takes you. Home to several notable chains, the mall also sports a children’s sandbox and play area, a spot for teens to hang out, and other amenities that make it a fabulous shopping destination for the whole family. • Hiccups Sports Bar & Grill

    Hiccups Sports Bar & Grill

7980 Sheridan Blvd. Arvada, CO 80003
    303-429-9523

http://www.hiccupssportsbar.com Hot bartenders and waitresses wearing ass-less chaps with their panties: It seems like a gimmick. But it's just one of the things that keep guys coming back to this Westminster sports bar. Well, that and live music on the weekends, a decent-sized checkered dance floor, cheep beer, pool, karaoke and a large patio. A working-class neighborhood bar and grill for the most part, Hiccups also attracts a fair amount of bikers, but the crowd is a bit more diverse during its beer pong tournaments three nights a week. The spot serves standard bar food and offers daily specials on cheeseburgers, smothered burritos, wings, chicken-fried steak and chicken tenders. More >>

  • Hoffbrau Colorado

    Hoffbrau Colorado

9110 Wadsworth Pkwy. Broomfield, CO 80021
    303-422-7755

http://www.hoffbrau-co.com After 28 years (and three expansions) at 7699 West 88th Avenue, Hoffbrau Colorado moved to a new 15,000-square-foot space at 9110 Wadsworth Parkway in early 2014. That's about twice as big as the old location, and the new place features an expanded stage and a more ambitious concert calendar, to boot. And while the old spot had a 300-person capacity, the new location holds 500. Look for live country on Thursdays and more live music on the weekends. More >>

  • Riffs

    10151 W. 26th Ave. Wheat Ridge, CO 80033
    720-550-6652

http://www.riffs.us After running Jake's Roadhouse in Arvada for years, the same owner took over the space behind Davies' Chuck Wagon Diner on West 26th Avenue near Kipling and opened Riffs, which dubs itself a rock-and-roll bar. The spot brings in a good assortment of rock, blues and cover acts that play on its decent-sized stage during the weekends, and there are karaoke nights during the week. The bar also serves food from Davies'. More >>
