  • Eck

    Eck's Saloon

    9890 W. Girton Drive Denver, CO 80227
    303-989-2991

http://www.theeckssaloon.com Much larger than it appears from the outside, Eck's Saloon has plenty of room for hearty drinkers, bikers, pool sharks and those who just want to stretch out and dance. Anyone with an affinity for '80s hair rock is pretty much guaranteed to fall in love with the place, as hard-rock cover bands are usually the rule on the weekends (during the week, it's karaoke, beer pong, trivia and poker). Eck's also occasionally brings in national acts from the '80s like Warrant, Kip Winger, Bret Michaels, Quiet Riot and Faster Pussycat. The walls near the decent-sized stage are lined with a good deal of hair-metal memorabilia. The place also rocks a massive smoking patio with a small bar outside. More >>

  • Gothic Theatre

    Gothic Theatre

    3263 S. Broadway Englewood, CO 80110
    303-788-0984

http://www.gothictheatre.com Opened during the Roaring Twenties, the Gothic Theatre had a long run as a movie house until Steve Schalk took it over in the late ’90s, saving it from the wrecking ball. Schalk remodeled and rebuilt the venue from the foundation to the roof, but left the theater's art-deco-style interior intact. Now it's a magnificent venue with old-world charm, great sound and a progressive booking policy. Beyond its aesthetic qualities -- and there are many -- the theater takes chances on lesser-known national acts, as well as providing a home for creative local projects that might not otherwise have a stage. In early 2013, AEG Live Rocky Mountains took over both the booking and operation of the venue. More >>

The pool room is usually packed for the bar's weekly and monthly pool tournaments, and always on Wednesdays, when it's free pool all day. Toad Tavern

    5302 S. Federal Circle Littleton, CO 80123
    303-795-6877

http://www.toadtavern.com Formerly known as the Horny Toad, the Toad Tavern has gotten its hormones under control. What was once a quaint suburban bar is now a full-fledged music venue, as the space was expanded to almost 5,000 square feet and filled with new furnishings, refinished surfaces, raised ceilings and a stage that's been beefed up considerably from its postage-stamp-sized predecessor, which could fit no more than four people. The new stage can easily accommodate a ten-piece act or more, and professional-quality sound and lighting are also now in place. In addition to recruiting a steady stream of local and national rock acts, the venue brings in a fair amount of nationally known blues artists. More >>
