Friends of ENCA Farm, a Denver based non-profit that supports smallholder organic farming and food security in the Philippines, is hosting its 7th Annual Nourish Event and Filipino Brunch on Saturday, October 14 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at The Posner Center for International Development. The event will feature a menu of Filipino-inspired brunch cuisine prepared by The Orange Crunch. The keynote speaker for the event will be Dr. Padmapani Perez. Padma is the Board President for Friends of ENCA Farm’s Philippine counterpart. She is an anthropologist and community development worker with expertise working with the indigenous communities of the Northern Philippines.
Tickets for the event are $45 for professionals, $20 for students and $60 at the door the day of the event. All funds raised will support Friends of ENCA Farm’s seed initiatives and training programs. By learning the importance of sustainability practices such as seed saving, small-scale organic farmers are able to build economic independence from large biotechnology companies that currently control the global seed and food market.
