Artist’s Reception, Friday, August 18, 5-8 pm
August 18—September 11, 2017
Artist Julie Kirkland noticed that we recognize our family and friends from the back as easily as from the front. That became her inspiration in creating a series of paintings of the back of people’s heads, instead of the more traditional portraits of faces. Representing all ages and walks of life, “About Face” presents 100 small portraits of people’s heads from behind. The portraits feature residents and local artists, including Chris and Liese Chavez, Phil Lear, Deb Komitor and Sean O’Meallie. Even if you don’t know the people personally, they are bound to remind you of someone!
Joining Julie are potters Arlene Woods and Nancy Morse with face-related pottery.
Celebrate with the artists at our opening reception on Friday, August 18, as part of the Manitou Springs ArtWalk. [Organizer's description]
