This month’s event features the reception of Black & White, an exhibition of extraordinary photographs, all rendered in the stark beauty of Black and White. This reception will also be the opening for Peter Brown Leighton’s Solo Exhibition; Man Lives Through Plutonium Blast, a series featuring images created on the paradox of the question; If life is the best of inventions, why is “humanity so inclined to push itself to the very brink of extinction in ever more creative and lethal ways?” Each photo is a narrative thread describing lives lived under the threat of extinction. Ellen Cantor’s Solo Exhibition; Prior Pleasures, will also be opening at this reception. Cantor’s work is meant to recall the joys of reading one’s favorite childhood book, in the midst of a technological world. The reception is a casual gathering of art appreciators to celebrate the art and the artists in the exhibition. Reception is sponsored in kind by Odell Brewing Co. All talks and receptions are free and open to the public.
