Free summer concerts on the lawn!
Aurora Rhythms will feature new bands offering a greater breadth of musical diversity in an effort to satisfy the musical tastes of our diverse city. For the first time, the concerts will include food trucks.
July 8 – The Hot Tomatoes Dance Orchestra, a band formed in 1982 that performs numbers from Benny Goodman, Count Basie, Glenn Miller, Duke Ellington and many others. The Hot Tomatoes has become a regional favorite for concertgoers and dancers alike and has performed across the U.S. and Canada.
Food trucks: Wheels on Fire (pizza), La Chiva (Latin, Colombian) and Repicci’s Italian Ice
July 15 - Deja Blu Variety Dance, a five-piece acoustic rock band playing a variety of popular dance music from the ’60s through today. Deja Blu was formed in 2001 and quickly established a reputation as one of the best dance bands in Colorado.
Food trucks: Goin’ South (American Cajun), Arepas (Venezuelan) and Sweet Cow Truck (ice cream)
July 22 - Conjunto Colores, considered Colorado’s original salsa and Latin jazz band. It has opened for such bands as Tito Puente, Sonora Ponceña, Bob James, Willie Colón and Rubén Blades, and has performed at numerous festivals, including A Taste of Colorado, Cherry Creek Arts Festival and the Telluride Jazz Festival.
Food trucks: Freddy’s Cuisine (Colombian, Latin), Pavy’s Food Truck (American Gourmet sandwiches) and Gigi’s Cupcakes
July 29 - Paa Kow and his Afro-fusion orchestra. Paa Kow is an internationally renowned artist, drum set player, composer and producer. Growing up in a small village in Ghana, West Africa, Kow began to play music and tour with his family’s concert band at a very early age. He has since grown to be widely recognized as one of the most remarkable drum set players to tour in Africa, Europe and America. His songs are captivating and danceable and incorporate lyrics in his native language, Fante, as well as English. Kow’s vision is to spread the music and culture of his homeland by touring the world with his Afro-fusion orchestra.
