For the past few years, Denver indie rapper CURTA has been a steadfast presence in Colorado’s DIY scene. He’s as likely to be seen on a lineup with folksingers, punk bands or experimental noise artists as he is at a straight hip-hop show. Like many musicians, he’s watched the city shut down underground venues and his friends get priced out of town. That’s the theme of his newest album, End of Future Punk, which he’ll drop at Seventh Circle Music Collective, one of the few remaining DIY spaces in Denver. CURTA’s new project explores loss, political cynicism in the wake of the 2016 election, and the collapse of the Mile High underground scene. He’ll be joined at the show by — and then tour the West Coast with — electronic-folk act Cars & Trains.
